I am unfortunately moving and am having a very hard time finding my two girls a new home. None of the rescues will help and the online sites have bore no fruit!  They're names are Zoey and Holly. Zoey is a little tabby and holly is a blonde color, they are both alittle over weight right now cause they are in such a confined space all the time. They are both spayed and have there claws and are indoor cats that love to be outside.  They are about four and five years old. I am getting desperate at this time.... someone please help. I am in Louisiana and will go to certain places inTexas if it means they have a wonderful home .

Can you not take them with you?  What is exactly the problem?  Older cats are very hard to rehome... And shelters and rescues are full and many have to turn them away.  I wouldn't recommend shelters or the Humane Society anyway... Most have a 3 day limit, so it would be a death sentence for your cats.  Is there not any way you can take them with you?

It's extremely hard to find homes for adult cats unless they are some exotic breed. Your cats will have the best chance of surviving if you take them with you. It can be difficult to find a rental where you can bring pets but it's definitely not impossible. You may not get the exact apartment you want but your cats are worth a little sacrifice, right?

Sadly the euthanasia rate for cats in Louisiana is close to 90% so their chances are not good if you can't keep them. So I would highly recommend to start calling around to find an apartment that would allow two cats. I've had the best luck with private landlords. Many will allow pets if you can convince them that you are a responsible pet owner. It may take a lot of calls but you'll find a place. If you don't there is always cat smuggling.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
If your existing landlord would provide a reference, in our experience, most private landlords will accept two cats even if the rental is advertised "no pets" if you provide a good reference and a pet deposit.

no. I cannot take them with me because I actually have three cats and two dogs and I cannot possibly find a place with five animals.

Then why are you moving? When you bring animals into your life you make a commitment to them for their entire life. You make decisions based on keeping them in your life.

So lie.  Most places will not do in home checks.  I had 9 times the limit at an apartment!  It takes a bit of work but this is family not a couch or something!

And when they do, they need to give you 24 hr advance notice...... so...... board them for a day for the duration of the visit..... But at least you are still a family
