Hello everyone, I switch my cat from dry food in 6 days. She has been on wet food for 8 days, yesterday she didn't eat any. When she was eating she would throw up the next day liquid colored like her wet food (wellness chicken formula).  For the last 10 years she was on dry before that Friskies (not sure what flavor). When she throws up she makes this horrible howling noise first then vomits liquid. Could it just be something in wellness making her throw up? Thanks in advance. For the first 8 days she finished a 5.5oz can.

Her dry food was royal canin veterinary diet fiber response (it work for about 9 months then she got constipated again. I decided to switch to wet.)

She's on Lactulose 2.5ml every 12hrs.

At the vet she got examination, cystocentesis, urinalysis, x rays. Her blood work is normal.

I asking if 8 days is long enough for her stomach to adjust to wet food.

Hm, it may be that she's upset by the change in her diet, and her stomach isn't quite used to the wet food yet. I would keep feeding it, but put out some dry food with it, and then slowly decrease the amount of dry food over about a week.

I feed my cats a number of different brands of wet food. Maybe Wellness just doesn't agree with her. Try a few other brands and maybe you'll find something that her and her tummy like. :)

I found some information that may be useful to you on www.catinfo.org.

While you are working on getting your cat to eat canned food, you can increase their water intake by using flavored waters such as tuna water, beef or chicken broth, clam juice, lactose-free cat milk, etc. You can make you own tuna water by adding 3 cups of water to a can of tuna. Mash it up and let it sit for ~15 minutes then pour the water into covered (to help maintain freshness) ice cube trays. 3 cups of water will fill two 16-cube trays. The ice cube trays can be used for other flavored liquids as well.
Prior to using, heat the ice cubes to ‘mouse body’ temperature and then add 1-2 TBS per meal of canned food in addition to putting some in a bowl as a separate drink of water

If she was on dry that long it may be taking time to adjust to the wet diet.  You might try mixing up the wet brands, flavors and textures a little to see which one seems to agree with her better.  I feed my cats several brands but their main wet is Nutro Natural Choice and they love Max Cat duck and chicken flavors.  I also buy quite a few other premium brands, including grain free wet.  Just my

I've read the "Transitioning Feline Dry Food Addicts to Canned Food" I used the mix a little wet with dry until it's all wet method. Today I tried a bowl of dry, she wouldn't even sniff it. I put out another can of wellness chicken she wouldn't eat. I'm gong to buy some different brands. Thanks for the info everyone.

On another note she also has stopped drinking water. I give her water via syringe how much should I give her (in milliliters)? She's 10 pounds and has has eaten a full meal in 2 Days. I just gave her 40ml. Thanks.

I got her to eat a bowl of dry, I'm going to start over using the dry mixed with wet method.
