With some many brands available, wondering what to fed my new kitties.  I use to fed my kitties Nutro Max but discovered that it is basically crap food.  My kitties are use to being fed Meow Mix (previous owners fed this).  I have seen many ads for Blue but don't know much about it...just wondering if anyone has used Blue and wondering if their cats readily accepted it.

Hi there and welcome!

I have not used Blue cat food, am not familiar with it. I've used Blue Buffalo and that seems like a  good food, it is used at the adoption center where I volunteer.I have only worked with the crunchies version though and I have to say that several of the cats have gotten really fat eating only the Blue Buffalo crunchies regular version. The turkey special diet and low cal fish seem to be better but again they are crunchies, not recommended in general.

But I thought you might be interested in this thread that was recently started by someone who also has new kitties and was wondering what to feed them http://www.thecatsite.com/t/245424/1st-time-cat-owner-what-food-to-buy

The general consensus seems to be - go with a grain-free food, don't feed them crunchies and it is a myth that they need them for their teeth, and their ideal food is raw.

There are a lot of food brands listed with some emerging as more available and liked by kitties than others.
Take a look and jump on in if you are so inclined !!!

Maybe someone else on here knows the Blue brand and can tell you more about it!

I've used Blue Spa Select, not sure if it is the same food you are referring to though. Do your cats eat canned or dry food? Blue Spa is a high quality food, but I would reccomend Wellness and Innova because they are a bit better. :)

Here's a really good resource that looks at the top dry and wet foods available on the market.

http://www.naturalcatcareblog.com/2011/08/best-dry-cat-foods-so-far/

Blue Buffalo is not a bad pet food, definitely better than any of the generic brands, however it is not top quality, because many products contain grains and the carbohydrate content is much to high for an obligate carnivore.

Here's the list of products that didn't make the cut and why: http://www.naturalcatcareblog.com/2...s-didnt-make-the-best-list-heres-why-finally/

All the best cat food searching!
