Hi! New girl here! My story is this - my parents were/are antique collectors/dealers and I was never, ever, allowed to have any kind of pet. About a year ago, after 7 years of dating, the timing was finally right for my fiance to move across the state and for us to move in together. We were married in October and found a stray kitten at my parent's house on our way to our wedding. We had been talking about getting a pet and so we decided to keep her. Hubby named her River (any Dr. Who fans here?). She seemed lonely, so about a month later we adopted a shelter kitty named Miles. Recently, we befriended a stray or feral kitty (Mike the Cat) who's been hanging around our deck. He's very sick, but I took him to the vet, and if he makes a full recovery, we plan to adopt him as well. Here's my thread about Mike: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/245415/outside-kitty-is-sick-uri
We're in the process of house shopping right now (currently we live in a pet friendly apartment), and if and when we do find a house, we plan on adding some more animals to our family. (A puppy for sure, and who knows what else!) I feel so deprived for not being able to have an animal my entire life and I'm trying to make up for lost time now lol
