What is TCS-KFers?

I had a lot of messages from TCS-KFers in my home email today.  They all seem to pertain to TCS members (I recognized some of the names) but I am not familiar with this at all.  I think it may have something to do with Facebook, but I'm not sure.  I'm not complaining...just curious.  Can anybody clue me in?  I am always the last to know. 

It is a Facebook group composed of members of tcs or kf who find it easier to keep in contact through Facebook as they go to fb more often than here.
You can adjust your settings by going to the group on fb, and clicking an option different than the one that's selected that gives you all notifications.

People are free to do as they like on Facebook, but please do not associate any other groups with TCS. We have one official Facebook page and we don't need any fan pages, thank you

Please respect our rules and do not spam members via the PM system here. Anyone sending out invites to other sites and/or Facebook pages/groups gets their account banned. We do that on a regular basis for spammers and having TCS in the group's name will not make it any different. Thank you!

I posted about this in the Technical section.  I've been receiving dozens of these e-mails in my home e-mail for the past couple days.  I don't open any of them - I just delete them but they are becoming a nuisance.

To clarify - TheCatSite.com has nothing to do with this group or these emails.

Something similar happened to me with a different group. The way this worked, and apparently still does, is that people can invite you to a group and are actually making you join the group without your consent. You then get notifications about everything happening in the group. One way to stop this is for the group admins to change the settings on their end, but this is something you'd have to ask them to do, whoever they are.

Thanks Anne.  I don't recall joining any group so hopefully whoever is doing it will stop soon.

Linda, I suspect you have to go to the group's page and switch off notifications from there. I doubt it'll stop any other way, it's just the not-very-clever-way in which Facebook groups work. I wonder how no one has sued FB over this yet, as it certainly is annoying!

Linda, I've posted in your thread about how to stop the email notifications by changing your Facebook notification settings. You can also go to wherever "Groups" are listed on your FB page and delete TCS-KFers.

I probably should have checked the Technical section first.    I didn't even think about that.  Thank you all for your responses.  I have gone in on FB and changed my settings.  I wasn't sure how it started...all these emails just popped up in my inbox yesterday.

Strange, I was suddenly added to that group by CoolCat but I never got an email notification.   It never entered my mind about being official since everybody in there are TCS members. A lot of them have not been posting here for years but they were glad to see old friends. Should I send a FB message to the creators of the TCS-Kfers to inform its members that the group is not an official TCS page?

We know that is is not an official TCS page... and the ones that are on it started it because we (for MANY different reasons) no longer frequent TCS or our other forum KF but would still like to have the association that we had with many members that we met on here. You do not have to accept the invitation to join and if you are added and want to leave then please don't think that you will hurt our feelings.

The group name has been changed to remove TCS from the title. I'm glad people who made friends here keep in touch, but it was too confusing as this group is not officially endorsed by TCS.
