Hello everyone, I am currently giving my cat liquid medicine and the plunger on the syringe (monoject) has gotten tight. When I try to fill it with medicine it gets stuck. I clean it with cold tap water and dish wshing soap air dry. Did I cause this or is the syringe just old? I can see the plunger cramed in the syringe and I can't give my cat her meds, if I try the liquid would blast in her mouth. I'm using a dropper for now but I prefer the syringe. Thank you.

Just use warm water and no soap.  I have been using the same syringe for Silly for about 6 weeks now.  Suck the water in and push it out several times, then let it dry with the plunger in the tube.  Any soap will leave a film and is not good for the cat.

Talk to your vet about getting another syringe.  I've gone on Amazon and ordered some, but I'm using them long term.

Another idea is to use a little vegetable oil smeared on the plunger after you wash it.  It sometimes will help.

Using to hot water did this with my kitten feeders i had years back.  Hot expands cold contracts(like a thermometer:)  So may want to run cold on the tip and warm on the canister.  Vet will probably give you a few for free or small cost as hes getting them in by cases.

You can get 100 count boxes off ebay for 10-15.  terumo and monoject and bd are good ones.  I use them for flea meds.
