Do pink nipples always mean pregnancy?

I just noticed today my barn cat has rather pink nipples. The tissue under them is also quite thick if that makes sense. weight-wise, she does not appear pregnant whatsoever.
I've never been around a cat in heat but from what I have read on the internet, it's relatively easy to tell. I honestly do not recall any signs or "cat-in-season" behaviour at all from her. So, unless she is good at hiding it, I don't think she has even had her first heat yet.

So what's up with the large pink nipples?.. they were definitely not like this before. Aren't they supposed to be small and white/flesh colored?

An unspayed cat, aged over 4 months and outside will no doubt wind up pregnant whether you notice her calling or not

Some girls will pink up right before they call, in this case she is likely pregnant

Pinking up happens around day 21, long before you notice any weight gain

:yeah: Any outdoor cat over 4 months old (unless you live on an island with no tomcats :tongue2:) will be pregnant/nursing at almost all times (she may take a short break mid-winter). You won't see her in heat because a tom will tag her before you notice signs. If you don't want 2-3 litters a year for the rest of her life (which would likely be shortened if she's allowed to breed that much), you'll need to have her spayed.
