So last Wednesday my neighbor brought me over a baby kitten.

At the moment, we can't tell if it is a he or a she but because I have a feeling it is a girl I will use she. :) The kitten was found inside the wheel well of a car downtown, and was rescued by a fireman. The fireman gave her to a bystander who took her over to his parents (my neighbors). Since my neighbors are elderly people who have never had a kitty before, she was on a steady diet of mortadella and cows milk for a few days. :lol3:

Now, as soon as I got baby kitty I booked an appt with my vet. I made an appt on Thursday morning and all they could give me was Monday at 2:30, which was okay. Then my appt got moved to Wednesday (tmmrw) at 2:30.

I noticed these sores on kitty's paws. The backpaws look like burns, and the skin is raw. One of her front paws is this dirty brown color (I've tried washing it off, didn't work) and the dirty brown skin is beginning to peel off. On one of the smaller toes of this paw, there is what seems to be a blood blister. The other front paw is pink and fine.

Now, kitty is eating, pooping, peeing, playing, and drinking. Perfectly healthy. No limping at all. I think it might be burns from being inside the wheel well of the car.

I really don't think it's an emergency since they don't seem to bother her, I'm just a worried meowmy. :(

Some pictures below:

These aren't very good pictures, they don't show the sores really. :(

Just wanted some TCS insight.

How did new kittys vet appt go?  Did kitty turn out to be a he or a she?  Whats the name, and let see some pics!

I would bet on burns from the brakes of the car, but you never know.  Could be from some other part.

Our first cat came in the second morning we had him with grease and burnt paws.  He never spent another night outside.

It's either going to be Cutie or Cuddles. :)

Its a she. The vet comfirmed that they were first degree burns on her paws, and they gave us an ointment, kitty's getting all better now :D

Oh no, kitty is not doing too well. :(

Yesterday she began limping on her front left paw. She became lethargic and stopped playing. She's gotten up maybe only four times in the last 24hours to use the litterbox and have a drink of water. She eats only if we bring the bowl of food to her. I called to make an appt with my vet and they haven't gotten back to me since it was Sunday. It's now Monday morning and I'm awaiting their call about an appointment.

I think she may have a fever....I've been putting the ointment on diligently but it hasn't helped.

She's breathing heavily and her eyes are dark and sad looking.

I'm almost in tears writing this. I have lost two cats this year and watching this kitten so sick is breaking my heart. I would go to the emergency vet but it's very far away and I don't drive.

Someone please help, I'm so so worried, if I don't get an appt with my regular vet ASAP, I'm going to a new vet. This is an emergency and I don't even care, I'm making sure this kitty gets veterinary care. :(

Just got back from the vet with terrifying news.

Well, Cuddles has a high fever that hasn't responded to antibiotics or anti inflammitories. They say it is probably a result of the injured paws. Since she is only six weeks old, she hasn't been vaccinated for anything. The vet said that Cuddles most likely has feline leukemia due to her inability to fight infection....and that since Cookie was exposed, she most likely has it too...

Apparently, we can't do a FeLV test until Cuddles is six months old.

I'm freaking out. Words of advice PLEASE?
