She's a 15 year old Australian Shepard Spaniel mix. Cataracts, practically deaf, arthritic, covered in cysts/tumors(?), and an OBVIOUS serious UTI!!
Now this is not my dog. She belongs to my MIL (not married to her son yet but we've been together so long I've just started calling her that). Living conditions are also not very good since she hardly lets the dog out and both the cat and the dog have turned her entire place into one giant toilet. She knows the dog is sick and is doing nothing.
She once tried "giving" the dog to us expecting we'd be willing and able to afford to care for the dog. Unfortunately for her it was stressing the dog out so much she stopped eating so we returned the dog to her. Now it's "she's going to die anyway so I'll just ignore her until she does so that I can then go out and get a kitten" (she didn't actually say it that way, but it's close enough).
Now I know the best thing for her due to her age and everything else would be is PTS, but I don't know where to go for that. Does anyone here know of some places or programs in the Louisville, KY area I can get in touch with? Due to circumstances a vet would just be too exspensive and it's breaking my heart to see this poor dog suffer.
