This kitten got adopted 12 days ago.. luckily the incubation for Coccidia can last up to 13 days and since none of the kittens or our cats are showing any symptoms, we think we are in the clear.. her one sister that is left for adoption has been in foster care for 3 weeks as well.. we just don't know where it came from is all since none of the other cats or kittens have it :-(

we offered a replacement kitten unrelated who had no contact with this kitten but they are in mourning so we are giving them time.. although the kitten was super healthy and showed no symptoms until 2 days ago, we still feel horrible for adopting a kitten with such a contageous disease even though there is no way to know without testing, which our rescue (as almost all rescues and shelters) can't afford to do to every healthy-seeming kitten we have that comes through here.. we have only gotten less than $500 in donations since we started which doesn't even come close to covering the vet bills for the kittens from the shelter kill-list we got almost 3 weeks ago. It's hard but we don't have any regrets about saving their lives, 2ce, since most of them had upper respiratory infections.. but now we are having trouble with adoptions since they are all now 8 weeks old and everyone seems to want a cheap or free younger kitten (we only ask for a minimum donation of $25 and they are treated for a lot of things that costs us this much to do, some are even neutered, microchipped, and have shots)..

we are in mourning for Midney and her new family that had to go through this with her.. we would like to do a bake sale or BBQ or something to raise money for their vet bills, and maybe part of our vet bills..

if you would like to help out with their vet bills for hospitalizing her please donate here:

***please make a note if donating for this family's vet bills or we will assume it is for our vet bills*** we are also in need of more antibiotics for the last 2 rescued kittens who got upper respiratory infection and would like to get her sister and 2 others tested for Coccidia and would LOVE to get them all their first set of kitten shots! we appreciate your help and all of the sympathy and have been passing it on to her family..

thanks for all of the support we couldn't do it without the few donations and fosters in our rescue!! and of course the very low adoption fees help us a bit too.. thanks for everything!

 sweet Midney, forever Loved <3

Just like with humans, we never know.  But it is a blessing to have a loved one close for whatever time we have them.  I am glad this little one was treasured, and I hope and pray that in time, they will give another needy kitten a loving, forever home as all cats and kittens deserve; but I am dumbfounded by your comment that people coming to you want kittens YOUNGER than 8 weeks, which is barely weaned!  Experts say kittens should not be separated from their mothers or adopted out before 12 weeks of age.  Perhaps you'll want to educate people to this!
