I woke up this morning, and my cat Delilah was in labor stage 1. She was panting and pacing at first, and then she layed down and continued to pant ,but kept switching sides and moving. That was at 10:00 a.m it is now 8:23 p.m should I be worried ? Should I wait ? Should I sleep with her? She's a first time mom and seems to be handeling it pretty well .. Please help me

Only time will tell, this could be it- or it could be her just being restless because the day is coming up. That is the fun of the wait-and-see game haha, you never really know. I can tell you I had about 100 times where I thought "This is it, she's having them!!!" and I was NEVER right. Just keep an eye on her, if she wants you around then stay around- it's helpful to momma- sometimes they don't cut a cord or eat a placenta- you can tear it with your fingers as far away from the kitten, and get rid of the placenta if she does not eat it. Some people recommend taking away placentas after the fourth kitten if there is more because it can make the momma sick, but i've also read plenty of momma cats have no problem with more. So that's kind of your choice. Also, sometimes momma gets overwhelmed with the babes that are already born and will not realize they've had another, which you would then be needed to get the sac off of the face and nose to get the kitten to breathe, and then present it to her so she can continue cleaning and so on. If you see a kitten starting to come out, it should be out within 15 minutes. Any more than that and it is stuck in the canal and is no longer safe, and she will need some sort of assistance.

99% of the time, however, a momma does great with labor on her own.
