So after months of putting it off, I finally got some new glasses! (Found out insurance pays 100%...) :)

Here they are, DH says they look "trendy & stylish" the retro like style is coming back- I think the rectangle works with my face shape- Anyway, we just wanted to show em off- I love them :)

They look really great!  I have to go shopping for some new glasses too.  My prescription has changed but I just haven't felt up to going out frame shopping. Plus glasses are expensive and my insurance only pays $100.00.  Because I have progressive lenses, each pair of glasses, depending on the cost of the frame, can cost $500 or more.  I'm loathe to spend that much money right now because I'm working on getting my new couch and recliner.

I went for cheap. The "$38.00 complete pair" at WalMart. The $38 was not covered, but the $89 eye exam was. My Rx changed by 2. It was - 5, now is -7

I hate getting new glasses as visions so bad to see the new frames by themselves.  Last pair is first I really am not happy with due to the shape(used to the smaller round frames. got these cause they are bendable and due to such bad sight without glasses I sleep with them(yeah i know....)

Glad you are so happy:)!!!

Unfortunately I need progressive lenses. So while I may be able to get frames on sale, the lenses ding me big time!

Yeah, you pay shipping and handling and that is about $12.00 or so.  You can't get the "Luxury" frames but there are still tons of cute styles there.  They often run specials as well.  They just had one for people who Like them on FB.

The smaller frames and lenses are all the style.  Personally, I prefer larger, metal frames, and they're getting hard to find.

It's all a matter of taste, isn't it?

Have you checked out Clearly Contacts? I have a friend that orders through them and says that they're really good. I'm going to get my prescription and try them out soon. They have an agent that you can chat with that can tell you how much the lenses would be as well.

Edited To Add: I just did a fake order to see how much progressive lenses would be on the site and they're $149-199 depending on which style you want. If you did it at a time when they have free lenses you'd just have to pay shipping (I think it's $38) and the cost of the lenses. I'm not sure if they do insurance claims through there so you might have to submit them manually, but you could get a pair of progressive lens glasses for just over $100 after your insurance claim.

It looks like clearly contacts is the Canadian version of coastal contacts.

Your glasses really look nice on you.  I wish I could get some for that kind of price.  My insurance only pays for the exam and gives us a thirty percent discount.  But I have to get progressive, with anti scratch and transitions so they turn dark.  I have small cataracts and that helps with glare.  So if I get new frames I am generally looking at around eight hundred bucks.  I try to wear my frames for several years.  My prescription is such that I can't wear the very small frames because then they can't get it fitted right in the frames.  The last two sets I have had have been the rimless.  Then I have to be sure they don't polish the edges or it drives me nuts with light reflections.  In fact it is such a hassel, to change lens or frames, I try to put it off as long as possible.  Congratulations on getting a pair you really like.

Progressives are more complex than just bifocals without a line.  My progressives have 4, now going to be 5,  separate focal distances, plus a non-prescription area at the bottom for reading (I don't need glasses for reading).

Thanks, unfortunately ordering my glasses online is not an option for me. I need to have my focal points checked when I get fitted for glasses.  My focal points aren't front/centre.  And if the focal points aren't determined correctly before the lenses are made, I not only get wicked headaches, but I also can't focus on things and end up falling over stuff.

Shipping is about $16 from Clearly Contacts. They have the free glasses promotion all the time where you just put firstpairfreeca in the discount in the checkout. I also have a coupon for free glasses from there if anyone from Canada is interested (as long as you haven't ordered from there before).

Dad likes those... they look horrible on me.

-7 is a massive strong Rx (can't even get contacts :(

And the big frames are way thick and heavy on the lenses
