An American Shorthair is a pedigree breed of cat (& I don't believe they come in longhair), he's a moggie or domestic longhair.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet Buster is a "she."

Beautiful cat, of course!

I could be really wrong but how old is your cat because if it is still growing he looks very much like a maine coon. The face and bushy tail looks very like a maine coons also maine coons are long haired. The reason I'm asking you what his age is that maine coons are very big cats and from the pic he looks an average size. Mabye you know that he isn't a maine coon but he is still very cute.

Hope this was slightly helpful

If your Buster is definitely a boy, you have an extremely rare color mix calico/tabby, medium/ long hair kitty.

Oh my.  This cat is a beauty.  I wish we knew if the cat really is Buster Boy or a female.  I too think the markings look like a young maine coon.

I read another of Buster's owner's posts, he is definitely a boy.  She had discussed his odd tortie markings in another thread.

I had thought he looked slightly "Maine Coonish", but without papers he can't be anything more than a DLH. :)

Lol YES EVERYONE HE IS INDEED A MALE CAT!!!
I would show you but think ill pass, lol
To answer your questions...
Yes he is a boy
Yes his coloration is unique half torti sleave, I've never seen such
A thing
I dont know how old he is, he was a feral cat and one day he
Showed up and never left, I always say he adopted us lol
He's actually really big compared to my other cat bebe who
Is a calico female....
Thanks for rotating the photos, this stupid touch screen phone
Drives me nuts....no pun intended, lol

He's just overall a confusing cat
He has a fluffy tail but the rest is kinda med length
He has paws that look like fingers but he's not polydactal.
He has a muscular body and he's big
But I have no idea whats up with his coat pattern
He has one torti arm (i call it his tattoo!)
But hes a handsome and loving cat

But I dont think he is a domestic short/long hair
His facial features are just different

That's the wonderful thing about domestics, they have no standard and can look any which way

Without papers he can never be any breed, pedigree cats are an extremely small % of the cat population

That's what I'm saying, domestics all look different. I wouldn't expect them to look alike.

His face is reminiscent of a Norwegian Forest Cat... but without papers he's just a domestic.

he is such an adorable boy! and wow, it is amazing he is a boy with that coloring.  I thought all calicos were girls, now we can see there are exceptions.  You are a lucky mommy to have such a cute unique boy:)
