Kitty just turned up outside my backdoor one day mewing loudly at me. I tried to not pay to much attention to her as i didnt want to encourage her to make her home here assuming she was someones pet. But over the next couple of weeks she seemed to spend all her time in our garden and slept under the bench outside at night. She seemed very thin and boney and had no collar on her. We fed her and after that well she made herself at home lol. We asked neighbours if anyone was missing a cat but nothing. A week later we realised she was getting very round and to kill two birds with one stone we took her to the vets to get checked for a chip (none found) and found that the vet thought she was around maybe 5 weeks preggo.

The vet asked if we intended to keep her, we didnt know tbh kittens are alot to take on especially when you have 6 hamsters lol. He gave us the number for the R.S.P.C.A so we could think on things. A few days later we had a knock at the front door, a neighbour said he knew who owned Kitty and gave us the address. I took a picture of Kitty and went round to the owners house, he said that kitty was hers. Inside the house we found Kitty had a sister which had 2 week old kittens. He told us this was Kittys second litter she was expecting >_< he was supposedly going to get her spayed and chipped but never got round to it and then she got out. The guy said they were going to keep one of the new kittens from the sister cats litter. I worry that he let Kitty out before getting her spayed. Anyway in the end he *decided* as Kitty was settled with us we should keep her. It just so happens she is already registered to the local vets we use.

Upon checking her details at the vets they tell me although she is registered there they have never actually seen her. I cant help but be disgusted that she has never been to the vet, never got chipped, spayed or even had her jabs. Discussed when she will be spayed and get her jabs, the vet has said basically when the kittens are weaned from mum.

Anyway Kitty is very settled in here with us and the whole family has fallen in love with her. We cant wait for her to have her kittens and we are now playing the waiting game. Another trip to the vets last week to get her checked and to get her chipped, the vet said maybe a week or two to go, that it was difficult to be any more sure as she is so big.

Yesterday we thought maybe it would be then because she was licking her ladybits nearly all evening, but tonight shes just happily chilling out next to me on the bed lol! We have made her a kittening box which is on the floor in the corner of my room as its the most peaceful room in a house with 4 kids lol! The kittens move around alot, i see big kicks and waves of movement, we *think* we have homes for 4-5 of the kittens (she had 4 kittens her last time according to her previous owner) so im hoping she doeesnt have more than that lol.

I keep reading up on signs of labour on the web apart from licking her ladyparts she isnt showing signs of anything, anyway ill keep you updated :)

This licking is not only immediately before delivery. It also occurs some time before, for cleansing out the hairs from the parts in question, and the tits too.

anytime, it is nearing.  They are preg about 63-65 days on average.

Tx for caring!

Without knowing when she mated it's really hard to predict when a cat will have her kittens, so you are into watching and waiting.  Since it's her second litter she will probably be fine for both delivery and looking after them, but she needs keeping in as she can get pregnant again very soon after having kittens, and you also don't want her to go out and not come back leaving you with tiny kittens to rear.

If she was mine I'd get her wormed - Milbemax is OK for pregnant and lactating queens - and check for fleas.  Other than that just TLC - as much kitten food as she wants to eat, and a quiet room.
