Hello everyone!  This is my first post so I am hoping I am doing it right.  Well I adopted Sully about two years ago from a local shelter.. (I already had a female kitty at home)..and about 6 months in I noticed he started peeing on dirty towels.  I went out and bought a hamper with a lid so he couldnt get in there and then he decided to start peeing on my clothes.  It doesn't matter if the clothes are clean or dirty either. I have put away clothes and hung them up..but he always manages to find a piece of clothing or a towel to pee on.  Weird thing is...he never pees on my fiances clothes..only mine!  This also comes and goes.  He can be a good big boy and not pee on my things and then a few weeks later I catch him going on something he shouldn't be.  We have 4 kitties now (I am fostering one for a friend for awhile now) and he has always peed on my things...nothing has changed...same food and we have 4 litter boxes.  I am taking him to the vet tomorrow...hopefully I wont have trouble getting his almost 19 pound butt in his taxi
.  I am worried about him and I don't want to have to give him up.  I am afraid if I do the person who takes him will become irritated and put him to sleep.  I recently caught him peeing on a pair of jeans and when I pushed him off there he rolled onto his back and continued to pee. I am also not sure what kind of life he had before I adopted him at the shelter...when he runs or trots up to me I notice he has a slight limp..so I am wondering if he was abused which makes me want to help him even more.  He has now also started defecating in the middle of the basement floor as well. Any ideas or suggestions on how to help my big boy are very much appreciated.  Oh and he is fixed.

Thanks,

Leah and Sully

Welcome to the site!!!! Of course, you are doing it right :D. AW sounds like you really love Sully. I hope that you can get to the bottom of this behavior and starting in the Health Forum is the right place. It is very, very possible your boy is suffering from a Urinary Tract Infection. So, you adopted him two years ago and he started this peeing issues six months after his adoption. WOW you have been dealing with this for 18 months!!!! Has he ever been to the vet before about this problem? OH and I think the reason he only pees on your clothes or towels is because it is your smell and your smell is what makes him feel safe/secure, and if he started out peeing on your clothes only, then he will want to go back to the same smelling bundle of clothes over and over. I think first things first... the vet and get that urinalysis done - maybe ask about having a sensitivity culture done on the urine since this has been going on for so long now. Much, much luck with Sully. :rub: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Sounds very much like a UTI... my male cat would pee everywhere BUT the box because they associate it with pain.  He had a blockage that was able to be passed and I got him on urinary tract food... no issues since.  Good luck!
