Question of the day: Tues. June 5th 2012

My apologies for missing my questions, I did post asking for someone to cover me while I moved and settled in, and now I am back

My question today relates to moving:

How many times have you moved in your life?

This was my 2nd move in less than 6mos, but in my life, well I was born in Toronto, moved to London, moved to a small hick town, moved to another hick town, back to London, back to hick town #2, then onto the town I live in now, then into a home with my exhusband, out of that home and into a womens shelter, and now I'm back to the place where I originally moved to prior to my husband. Kinda did a full circle in the last 10yrs, and with any luck, I will be here for a while and no more moves.

Too danged many to count - an average of 5 times a year for the better part of 40 years and it wasn't just me but up to 15 head of horses, all their gear, and assorted help as well. The last couple of years I travelled, I moved every weekend in Manitoba, all summer long, me and a few horses and my trailer with living quarters, then came home for 4 days, did farm work, rinse and repeat. That's a lot oacking and loading and unloading

About 35 times.

Have to decide if we are going to renew our lease here or move somewhere else. Lease expires in August, we have until next week to decide to renew or not..

I have not moved often in my life, but I have "half-moved" more often.

So...

My mum was 18 when I was born, so for the first 2 years I lived at my grandparents house and shared a bedroom with my mother and  her sister.

When I was 2,5 my parents got married and moved to a tiny flat "downstairs" at my other grandparents house.

When I was 4 they rented a proper flat, where we lived for 4 years, while my father built their house.

So at 8 we moved to the "new" house.

While living there,or having that house as a base I could come back to in between,  I stayed a few months in Germany, learning German, I lived a year in the US, and a few months in Scotland. I also lived a few months in my grandmothers flat while she stayed with her children who lived abroad with their families (that was when she was getting older and had moved from her large house).

I lived with my ex-boyfriend for a few months, but  also  "half-lived" with him for a few years, as we stayed a lot at my parents house as he was too cheap to rent more than one bedroom, so we had no shower, no kitchen, so not a proper home there.

I moved to my flat where I live now in 1998 and have lived with my s/o since then (well, he moved in 2000)

So, proper moves, with moving all my belongings, furniture and things have not been many.

I can't count.

4 times and soon to be 5

OMG in the first 12 years of our marriage we moved 16 times After year 12 - we stayed put and have been in this house for fourteen years now. BUT thinking of moving IF the market ever turns around. OUr house keeps depreciating like everyone elses. It is now worth what we paid for it fourteen years ago
