This is an update to my previous thread.  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/242346/suddenly-theres-something-wrong-with-my-vision

I had cataract surgery in both eyes and both times the surgery went well.  The first surgery was May 21 and the second surgery was yesterday.  After the first surgery the vision in my left eye was immediately very clear.  However my right eye had more blurry vision after surgery, which seems to be gradually improving.  At the follow-up appointment this morning the doctor did mention that I have some astigmatism in that eye which is something I've know about since childhood and could be causing the problem.  Tje dpctor doesn't seem to be worried, but I have a second follow-up appointment next Wednesday so he can reevaluate my vision after my eye has had time to get stronger.  So if you can spare a few vibes I would appreciate it. I'm also wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Hi Lorie !! Don't have any experience with cataract surgery, although I know it is very, very common. Just sending along mega vibes for your upcoming appointment. :cross: Hope it is good news :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I had cataract surgery in both eyes a few years ago -- did the surgery 2 weeks apart.     About a year after the surgery there was a little blurriness in one eye and they did something with a  laser that took all of 10 minutes   The dr said it was something like your body automatically wants to heal something that didn't seem right.  I guess that was the cataract surgery, so they just had to zap the eye with a laser.

Two years ago I had a partially detached retina and had surgery for that.   My dr said that "sometimes" happens after cataract surgery, but it isn't a typical experience.  The retina attachment was a more complicated surgery with a  longer healing time, but it worked just fine.      I'ts amazing the things they can do now in a relatively simple procedure that years ago were major surgery.   "modern technology".

Hope all is well and keep us posted.

Oh --- are you seeing an amazing difference in colors?   I just couldn't believe how much brighter everything was.

Lots of
from here, too, and a gentle
as well. Hope everything goes OK.

My doctor told me that I have cataracts, too, and she is recommending surgery either this year or next. I've noticed that my vision is blurry from time to time, especially when I'm trying to read. I may bite the bullet and check into surgery yet this summer.

My husband has just completed surgery in both eyes.  He had some problems getting over it all because he was allergic to one of the eye drops they were going to use.  In place of that the doctor put a shot in his eye.  That took the place of the antibiotic drop.  Two days after the first surgery, he had a real blurry problem.  It was on Friday and the doctors day off.  We had to call the drs cell phone and meet him at the office.  It turned out that the steroid drop being put in his eye caused his eye pressure to sky rocket.  He gave us two more special drops for that.  I had to take him back the next day to make sure the pressure was okay.  Then after the second surgery, he got staph on his eyelids.  We added another antibiotic drop.  It was a process but is now over and he just got his new eyeglasses.

He says he sees very well now, no blurriness at all.  Just stay in touch with your eye doctor and if you notice any change keep them informed so they can check you if they need to.  I wish you well.

My husband also remarked about how clear and bright the colors are.

OMG!
Your husband really went through a lot, and i'm glad everthing turned out ok for him.

BTW, there's only a slight amount of blurriness in my right eye now, so thanks again for the vibes everyone.

Glad to hear it's all over and things went well. I seem to recall reading that sometimes there is a blurriness post surgery. Keep your doc in the know.
I also have astigmatism and that is why I still wear glasses. The biggest difference I noticed was the weight of my new eyeglasses. No more "coke bottle" lenses!
I also love being able to see when I wake up.

I do miss being able to read small print without a magnifying glass.

About a year after the surgery there was a little blurriness in one eye and they did something with a  laser that took all of 10 minutes   The dr said it was something like your body automatically wants to heal something that didn't seem right.  I guess that was the cataract surgery, so they just had to zap the eye with a laser.
This happened to my Mom and she had the laser surgery. Haven't had this happen, yet.

I do have a one year checkup in July.
