Ardy is adorable!  Just out of curiousity, did mama cat have extra toes too?  My Cricket is a poly, and had 7 kittens, and two of them were polys too.  I read that its a genetic trait, which one of the parents has to have to pass on to the kittens, so if mom is not, that means the father was.  I also read that usually about 50% of the kittens will be poly, which obviously wasnt the case in Crickets litter.  How many kittens were in Ardys litter, and were any of the others polydactals? I got a poly kitten when I was little, and she was with me 19 years, and I now have Cricket, and one of her poly babies, so needless to say I love those extra toes!!

Nope, Jazz is not a poly. She had seven kittens in total, two dying a few days after birth. None of them had extra toes. I don't know about the dad, he is a stray that roams around.

Did the poly kitten or Cricket walk funny? Ardy sorta walks like a monkey. Its hard to describe how he walks.

No, Cricket and her 2 poly kittens dont walk funny.  I have 1 of the poly kittens, who is now 9 months.  The other poly went to a friend of mine.  All three walk normally, and are normal in every other way(they actually seem to have more agility than a normal cat, they use the extras, it seems, for better balance).  They all have identical toes.  Normal toes, and then a long thumb with a claw inbetween the thumb and normal toes.  They also have one extra back toe. Heres a pic of Cricket, where you can see her cute little feet.

Heres a pic of one of the poly kittens.  Shes the one my friend got. Sorry thats the best one I have of her toes.

When I lived in Gainesville, Florida,  there was a place called Hemingway House. Evidently, he had lived there for a while before going to Key West.  There are more polydactyl cats around that area than are usually found in a neighborhood.  I know four people who got polys from that neighborhood.

My friends cats had poly dac kittens from the dad cat
Most had 6 or 7 but one kitten had 9 toes and 10 fingers
And on one paw hehad what I call a lucky claw which was
Just an extra claw without a toe, I was very upset when they
Refused to give him to me even after they said that he was
Mine because I had helped deliver and fed the babies...makes
Me d sad knowing that they prob just gave him to some one
Who doesn't care for him it just send him to the shelter :(
