I took Lucy to the vet Friday.  This guy was VERY thorough...I was impressed.  After doing an extensive examine on her, he determined there were no fractures or breaks or anything....lungs and heart were clear and good....bowels and bladder were not full....no signs of external trauma on her paws...nothing to that extent.

He suggested she may have hurt a tendon or muscle as her limp is on and off depending upon how long she has been laying down, etc.  He compared it to a human....the longer they are immobile, the stiffer they become.  It makes sense, really.  So....I am watching her to see how she does and the vet said it could take up to a few weeks to heal completely.  If she continues to have this pain/limp, she may have torn a ligament and in that case, it would suffice an xray to see where to go from there.

SO..that is GREAT news for me. I was terrified about this.....probably irrationally.

I thought maybe I could give her half a baby aspirin to help with the pain she has been experiencing.  When our first cat had cardiomyopathy, she was given it, so I thought it would be fine.  I didn't ask the vet as I didn't think about it at the time, but then I read that it can be harmful to cats...so I guess that takes care of that.

Anyway......does anyone have any experience with a cat with a hurt tendon or muscle? Just wondering what I should expect during this healing process and how long it may actually take?

Thanks in advance, as always for any info!

On the mild side, you could add Cosequin to her food. For more serious pain issues  you would have to ask your vet for Bupranorphine. My Challenge always limped badly after naps but as he moved around, he'd simply hold his affected paw off the floor. Now that he's on steroids, he doesn't have that problem. In Lucy's case, your vet won't want to use anything that would mask the symptoms.
