Over the river and through the woods...
Yesterday was a quiet day here. DH was at work and I was out puttering in the yard, and I realized our Mockingbird was back! He just followed me around from tree to tree and sang his little medaly keeping me company (or keeping an eye on me lol). The humming birds were fighting for position at the bird feeders and all the other feathered friends were having a great time.  A woodpecker was pecking away in the woods nearby, and I even saw a few yellow finches and, I think, a bluebird! (yeah, I didn't get a lot done yesterday!) Then, as the sun was setting our Whip-Poor-Will started singing. She sings from sundown to sunrise. I love it!

So, what birds do you see or hear where you live?

I have no idea what birds are here. I barely ever see them, but I hear them every morning starting between 3 and 4am. One of them is very loud in the morning and keeps me awake.

There's a ton of them in our backyard.  Mockingbirds, blue jays, hummingbirds, cardinals, zillions of finches
, etc,

We also have 2 birdhouses.  This year I've had 2 successful nestings.  Carolina Chickadees and bluebirds
There was a Great Crested Flycatcher checking out one of the boxes earlier (only reason I know what they are is b/c we had a nest of them a few years ago) but so far nothing.

But I haven't exactly been a good "bird parent".  The feeders are empty right now.  And I had to soak the hummingbird feeders, I neglected them as well and they were nasty with a capital N.

Aside from the usual sparrows, doves, cardinals.. I get Quaker Parakeets. There's a beautiful green pair that I often see outside my window, and surprisengly, they're not loud!

Where my cats are
We have a feeder right outside the dining area window; where the cat tree sits.

We have Chickadees, robins, morning doves, cardinals, house finches, mocking birds & some other finches, and ones I dont know the names of off the top of my head.  I love watching them and so do my DD and the cats!  And the kitty that visits my back yard every day to bird watch!

We have quite an array!!! Robins, Blue Jays (my favorite), Sparrows, Cardinals, Downy Woodpeckers ( which can be a nuisance at times pecking on the cedar siding ) I have only once or twice seen a Hummingbird. The Cardinals are always around our house. They have many nests in the trees out back. Fun for my cats to bird watch :clap::clap:

All the common birds eg: blue jays, several kinds of sparrows, cardinals, several kinds of finches, hawks, owls,  and at least one nesting pair of pileated woodpeckers - wow, are they huge.  I even see a bald eagle occasionally.  There is fairly thick woods all around the house, so it is bird heaven here.

Crows, blue jays, robins...(I don't know many kinds of birds, so I am sure I am missing a ton). There is also this black/brownish bird I hear that makes a wide variety of calls/sounds. Including one that sounds like a screaming child and a whistle.

W/ the best cats
Brown (also known as maya) sparrows and Java sparrows (grey body, black head, white cheeks and reddish beak), starlings, and others I am not familiar with. It gets pretty noisy early mornings and late afternoons.

I have absolutely no idea!! I love hearing birds though, especially early in the morning on weekends, when I know I can stay in bed as long as I want ...

Sounds like you have a mockingbird. They learn to imitate anything. Heck, ours throws out cat noises which drives the barn cats crazy!

These ones are small, black with hints of brown. Similar "mocking" skills though. They are irritating but sort of funny at the same time. Sometimes I think there's like 5-6 types of birds outside, so I go to look and its just this little one by itself.
