I recently switched my 4 cats to Wellness dry.  I have 2 cats that are special needs, so I'm having to tweak my food plans again.

Coco - History of Bladder stones, just had large thyroid tumor removed last week. Still hyper-T, but levels are dropping.  Lost tons of weight from hyper-T and needs to gain some back (5 lbs in less than 6 months loss).  Will not eat prescription foods or anything fish flavored.

Makani - 25 lb big cat.  Needs to lose weight.  Would rather starve to death than eat canned food.

Kali and Sadie - Healthy cats, healthy weights.  Will eat whatever I give them.

We've been free feeding for years, but obviously that isn't going to work anymore.  I need to find a food (or foods) to help one gain weight, another lose, and 2 others stay healthy.  Any suggestions?

Really, a good quality wet food is your best bet on all counts. I know you said Makani isn't a fan of canned, but would he eat raw? What brands and flavours of canned have you tried? How did you introduce them? Sometimes it can take a great deal of trial and error and patience and perseverance before some kibble-addicts are willing to switch, but I'm absolutely convinced it's possible with all cats. There are a couple of really good videos describing some ways to help with the transition here:

Agreed. Canned foods can do wonders; help fat pets lose and thin pets gain. I would try some of the tips listed on the links as well as ask as many questions as you have. Many of us have transitioned even the most stubborn cats to wet...

Exactly my thoughts, kibble is never the best option especially for a kitty with a history like yours. They should not be eating dry food whatsoever. just went grain free food.
