My name's Michelle and I'm from Kansas. A little about me I suppose is that in 2009 I graduated college with a bachelors in sociology and I work as resource coordinator for a women's shelter. Basically there I'm a life coach as I teach them life skills, job skills, money skills, etc. I make my own jewelry and I also teach my clients that for an entrepreneurial program as well. I supplement my income by also working part time at our public library and am a massive book worm.
In my spare time I help coordinate rescue out of our local city shelter, and volunteer there as much as I can to help gain exposure to the animals, both dog and cat. As well as try to raise money for needed issues. I also volunteer with the organization that runs the transport for the rescues we get, organizes a Neuter Scooter to a low cost clinic about an hour and a half way and runs a very small cat rescue (currently doing no intake). I'm also on the board of directors for our local humane society and am trying to lead them into a more proactive direction with new creativity and insight into the world of our local shelter.
I am a crazy cat lady, I have two of my own and that's my limit as my boyfriend is severely allergic to both dogs and cats. He suffers through for my two because I think he knows I'd go get my own place to live with them! I also am very caring towards our ferals here in town and have started a new (and first) TNR venture in a family member's neighborhood.
This is Riley, she's my beautiful dilute torbie and I love her to pieces. Her mother is a barn cat that was dumped in the country. Josh's family lives out of town and tries to take care of all the homeless that end up out there. Riley's momma had three kittens and I scooped up Riley and socialized her and made her my own. She runs the house and is my princess.
This is Max, he's been here for about two months and I adopted him from the shelter I volunteer for. Max actually had rescue and I panicked. I realized then that I loved him entirely too much and he had to come home with me. He wants to play with Riley, but Riley isn't really having it most days. I can see them starting to tolerate each other more every day and while they probably will never be cats that cuddle together, just seeing them sleeping on the bed together is good enough for me.
