A very pregnant momma cat was abandoned at a golf course and one of the concerned workers contacted the clinic I work at and I agreed to take her in. She's very underweight and hasn't really stopped eating since being in my care. She was too far along for a spay-abort as her kittens are palpable and moving a good deal so the waiting game begins. Her nipples are already enlarged and producing colostrum, no signs of slowing down of the food intake, no vaginal discharge, and no other labor signs from momma. I've had her for four days, she's the first momma or kittens I've taken in this summer (Praying for no bottle babies this year!). And my other foster Crookshanks is getting adopted this week so she'll be the only rescue kitty I have unless another needy soul stumbles my way. I hate waiting on kittens to be born and since shes so thin and I have no idea when she was bred, theirs no telling when these little ones will be here. So I invite you guys to join my wait! And I'm new to the forums! I'm a 20 year old college student who has been involved with rescue for years, Momma and babies will be spayed and neutered as soon as they are able.

Sounds like she is in the right hands.  Perhaps a small litter, if she is that far along to produce colostrum but not that big.  We shall see.  I am waiting on my skinny stray as well.

Once they start producing colostrum about how long until the babies come along? I though she Was pretty close but I'm not sure. Their is lots of kitten movement.

Welcome Kelsea!

Sounds like we're all playing the waiting game together. I picked up my newest foster mom (Camille) last Monday so I've been waiting 7 days now... isn't the waiting game excrutiating?? Cami's kittens have been moving around a ton too and over the past few days she's become full of milk. But still no kittens!

I'm not sure about the colostrum thing.. with my first pregnant mom she didn't have any milk until after the kittens were born. I think they say that with first time moms it's common for the milk to not come in until after labor but if the mama cat has had kittens before the milk can come in before. But I'm not sure how soon before..

Here's my mama and her belly :)

Keep us posted!

She is such a pretty momma, I love grey kitties! She looks a lot bigger than my girl! I hope Cypress isn't still a long ways to go. I'm ready do the babes to be here!

My last litter were gray & whites and black & whites so it'll be interesting to see what Cami pops out! I'm hoping for some color :)

It's funny because when I got Camille on Monday I thought she was really small and would only have a couple kittens... but here we are a week later and she's gotten a lot bigger so now I'm not so sure!

I hope Cypress doesn't keep you waiting either! I'm so jealous that you'll probably get tabby kittens... I love tabbies!!!

Thank you for helping this precious beauty!
I too am waiting for kittens with my very pregnant foster, Brianna. She was just barely pregnant when we brought her in but the rescue organization decided not to do a spay/abort, so thankfully we have been able to pump her full of good nutrition from the on set.

My previous foster kittens all went to their forever homes last weekend, and their mother, along with ANOTHER mama kitty whose babes went home a few weeks back, are actually being adopted together NEXT weekend. Lots of happy adoptions lately.

@ Lindz. She is making me wait! I'm excited to see what the babes look like! Still no new activity out of the ordinary. I was certain she was close but the longer it takes the less I'm sure. Her babes are still kicking like crazy! @Kailie. That's wonderful news about the adoptions! I'd love pics if you can share them! I am staying with my grandparents in Florida do to my grandfathers health And it's given me lots of opportunities to help more, hopefully I can get involved with a TNR group here and foster more mommas. I'll be sure to post if anything new happens, for now it's just waiting.

I'm still waiting today too :(

I've been able to feel and see her kittens move since the day she came to me (eight days ago!) so I assumed it wouldn't be too long but I guess she wants to hold them in longer.

What a great thing you are doing for her :) I am so glad that you are giving her a safe place to have her babies! She is beautiful, looks like a very sweet girl.

And since we are playing the waiting game... I will share my story since I went through something similar a few weeks ago, and I too have a gray and white mommy :)  she was a stray and showed up on my back porch digging in my trash at around 60 days along. She was very small, only weighed about 7 lbs, and was very very hungry. She had no problem delivering, but she only had one kitten (who was an adorable Tortie) and unfortunately the baby did not survive.

Here she is just a few days before she delivered...it was hard to even tell she was pregnant if she was laying down, but from above you could see her belly stick out on the sides. Her name is Minnie :)

she was sad about her baby, so i decided to call the shelter to see if they had any very young orphans that needed fostering... and they did! These guys were 10 days old, someone had found them in their window well and brought them to the shelter. Minnie took to them immediately, and they are about 4 weeks now, getting into lots of trouble!!

@Who it is- I'm so happy you found babies for Minnie to take care of! What luck. That's such a lovely story.

@Kelsea- Hows Cypress doing today?? Still no kittens here :(

@ who it is- that was awesome of you to do, she looks so happy with her new adopted babies! You Definately saved their lives! Still no babie yet, she's gotten even larger! No small litter for me by the looks of it :( I'm ready for the waiting game to be over! And my other foster's adopter backed out. A real bummer.
