My boy Lucas has decided he now hates Natural Balance canned food and he also refuses to eat hills z/d canned.  He wasn't eating welll because he is still a little sleepy ( he has been on prozac for 20 days).  So since I'm  now sure that he doesn't have food allergies, I wen't ahead and bough some cans of purina one canned chicken, I know is not the best food, but I have to give him what is easier for me to get and what he wants to eat.  He needs to eat, he has lost a lot of weight.  I've been buying natural food online for a long time and I think he has grown tired of it and now Im stuck with a lot of food that none of my cats want.

So now my priority now is making sure he eats something and I feel guilty for buying him this food, I know he deserves a better diet, but he loves it and he refuses to eat natural.

When he stopped eating I even tried giving hm kibble, but he doesn;t want it , he wants canned food.

Well at least that boy knows what he wants! Tammy, he needs to eat, and if that's what he wants and will eat, then you shouldn't feel bad. He's been so sick. Sometimes the best medicine is spoiling them, not worrying about what's best for them. :heart3: :hugs:

THank you Laurie, that is what I was thinking, the important thing right now is to get him to eat.  I thank God that the food is not what makes him  sick, because that would be a nightmare right now that he is so picky.   I'm also giving him a vitamin, but he looks so thin, I will ask the vet if he can prescribe some nutritional supplement for him.

Well, I can't tell you how many cans of "the good stuff" I have thrown out (because they were opened and refused).  The unopened ones end up going to rescue sites, so at least they aren't totally wasted, but still, I get so upset that they won't eat what's good for them.  But at this point, if I were you, I'd be giving him anything he would eat also, poor guy.  He deserves whatever he wants, don't you think?  Once he gets back on track, then maybe you can slowly start feeding him something that's a little better, but only if he doesn't stress about it

Yes , that has happened to me many times.  It is awful when they refused to eat it, I ended up giving the cans to my brother, for his cat Lola, I hope she likes them. The worst part is I live in Puerto Rico and I  have to buy the natural food online, so I also had to pay for shipping, is not cheap at all, and now my boy decides not to eat it, but that's ok, I just want him to eafft whatever he wants and be happy.
