OK so here is the deal.  I have a beautiful boy named Finn.  He was having some blood in his stool so I took him in and they said not to worry he was just straining but they did find a lesion in his gum that made him nervous.  So off the vet to be sure he can take anesthesia - good news there his heart has stablelized and they have no future worry of cardiac problems - Big Yea!!!

He went to dentist today and went under fine - they have to pull three teeth due to exposed roots.   They sent the lesion out for a biopsy.  The dentist said it is not a hard spot so that is a plus but he doesn't like the location which is behind back tooth. All his other tests came back fine, heart, kidney, liver, blood etc...his lymph nodes are not swollen and he only just turned seven which I read is on the young side for cancer.

So with the Memorial Day holiday it won't be till end of next week for test results.  I love my little man so much and I am sick with worry.  I know I should keep busy but I just want to lay on the couch and cuddle him and cry - yeah real healthy right?

Finally my question is:  how do you cope with worry of upcoming diagnosis?   Please don;t give me stories of how this happened to your cat and he had cancer.  I don't think I can take that.

My vet don't read the internet it will freak you out.    I do know this is a very supportive community so well wishes, prayers and an answer on how to cope with the fears will help.

Thanks,

Erin

Hi :wavey:
I know there is nothing we can say to make it better...... but here it goes..... There is nothing you can do until the results come back.....
There are chances that what he has is Stomatitis and Resorptive Lesions.... I would not bet on cancer just yet

Did you go to vet, or a dentist?
In any case, a biopsy will show if he has stomatitis.....
It SUCKS waiting..... but really, there is nothing you can do until then.....
Bottom line is, stress deeply affect our babies - so..... take a deep breath, and try to not think of the worst :hugs:
He was fine until now, and chances are, he will be fine now too :cross:
For now he needs to recover, and momma needs to be will for to help him with that :grphug:
:vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: For your little boy, and :hugs: for momma :hugs:

Thank you Carolina so much for your response and support.  I know I have to be strong for Finn and his sister.  Your support means more than you could possibly know.

I went to a veterinary dentist.  He was quite a bit more expensive than others but I trust him so I have to remember I got Finny the best.   I will feel it when planning for vacation or something else but boy is he worth it!!   I am hoping since we only used one of his 9 lives on his heart he has 8 more to go ;)

Thanks again Carolina for taking the time to write - it made with take a deep breath with relief and made me get out there and give more support to others!

Hi Erin,
I am glad you went to the dentist - I take my babies to the dentist too, and yes, do I feel the pain.... both ways -their pain and in my pocket :lol3:
I do believe it is the best choice for sure
One of my babies has stomatitis and has had some resorptive lesions, andthe other has resorptive lesions big time... I am familiar with a thing or two when it comes to dental stuff, unfortunately.
Bugsy, my stomatitis boy, is on treatment and doing very very well, especially now that he is on a raw diet
The waiting game is no fun.... but it ends.... and more often then not, it ends better than expected
No matter what you do, don't google - Dr. Google is NOT your friend :lol3:

We will be here for support whenever you need us!

P.S. - Gorgeous boy you have there

Thanks so much!  My boyfriend is Captain of police in one of the most violent cities in America he is a softy for Finny but I don;t want to put too many tears on him.  It is nice to have the support here.  Definitely staying away from Google - although i am lapsed Catholic I found Joel Osteen video and they are making sense.  I love this site because people understand my worry and don't say things like he is just a cat!

Thanks for the compliment on Finny he is a big boy, a Maine Coon mix - hence his heart murmur.  He is a gentle giant.   As a photographer he is overly photographed - my girl hates the flash but he seems to pose for them ;)

I know the waiting game is unbearable, but Carolina has given you wonderful advise, and sounds like you've got it under control
.  Seems like every time anything goes wrong, it's either the weekend or a holiday, no?  But hang in there, since there's nothing else you can do but wait.  Beautiful boy, BTW.  Absolutely gorgeous.  (Finny was my boy, Sven's, nickname
)

Aw, what a gorgeous boy! And WHAT a happy, smiling face!!! :lovegrin2

I'm sorry you have to wait the weekend, but the important thing is that you're doing what you need to do for your boy to keep that smile! It helps to focus on that. :D :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

I'm so so sorry that you are in this situation. I have been through something similar myself, so I know how you are feeling. Finn is a gorgeous boy, by the way.

Prayers and vibes that Finn will be alright. :vibes: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Thanks, for checking in! I got the onocologist report this afternoon and all is good - it is just an abscess!   I am thinking pet insurance may have been a good idea,  as this scare cost 1700.00 -

Ahhhh but he is worth it!!!

Oh and thanks for all support totally worth it.  Thanks for the compliments on Finn - I went to get a rescue and he has been diagnosed with "Maine Cooneness" - beautiful, cuddly with a heart murmur - but luckily no cancer!!!
