my cat is a 1.5 year old female, neutered, and 3 of the last 4 days we have woken up to find a couple of pools of a brown liquid on the floor, one of the pools i seen had small poo like sausages in it. she only does this at night / early morning and not through the day, she is eating fine, happy, playing, purring and seems normal otherwise.  do i need to take her the vets or is it just a tummy bug that will pass on its own? could it be her food? (she is eating whiskers braised food in gravy this week, she eats it all every day, last week she was on whiskers in jelly and didnt always eat her food prefering biscuits to the meat), is it a poo she is doing or vomiting the brown liquid? my brother thinks its the food and instead of gravy i should switch back to jelly and its just shooting through her when its digested whick happens to be in the early hours

Without more detail (yucky I know) it is difficult to say whether this is vomit or poo. Does she normally use the litterbox OK? Can you isolate her overnight with a litterbox and see whether she does it in the box or not? But if this has recurred 3 out of 4 days I would say it is time to have at least a chat with the vet. Something that was passing on its own would have cleared by now. It could also be hairballs she is vomiting, but the vet will advise.

Um, what does it smell like? Poo smells, well like feces; vomit might smell kind of like what she is eating, but not pleasant.

But yeah, a call to the vet is in order.

I'd be willing to bet that the "sausages" are hairballs.  I was quite alarmed the first time I ever saw one because it did look kind of like poo.  My cat will sometimes have several little vomits when they are trying to get up a hairball.  I'm sure the smell would tell you if it was poo.

It does sound like hariballs.  I would, however, recommend changing her food.  She might be developing an allergy to something?  There are several threads on here on quality food for cats, including some limited ingredient varieties.  I do not recall Whiskers being on the list.

I have a cat who also has tummy issues with many cat foods.  I have found grain free to be the best option for her problems.
