Hi everyone,

My baby sister found a cat that isn't from our neighborhood. She is a persian cat and has been limping.

A week ago she did not have this brown and black crust developed on her paws and now she does. I am worried about what that means.

She still eats, tries to play when she can and always she limps everywhere trying not to use her injured paw. She doesn't let anyone touch it. I worry because she purrs often even before we touch her and I'm not sure if this is because she is in pain. Her eyes seem to look as if they are tired or sleepy.

Has anyone else ever had this happen to their cats? If so any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm also researching ways to get her to a vet for a visit on my limited budget.

Thank you for any help and responses in advance.

Rosa

Here is the link to some of the photos of her paw:

That paw looks very swollen.  If you can find a no-kill rescue that will take her that would probably be best as she needs to be seen by a vet, and will also need treating for fleas and worms as well as whatever is needed for her paw.  To be honest it looks to me like it's been badly scraped, but she needs to see a vet.  You might also find a specialist Persian rescue if you use Google.

Where are you?  How about adding your location to your profile?

She definitely needs to be seen by the vet.  Look in the sticky at the top of this forum for low cost vets and the thread titled, "Can't Afford a Vet".

Oh boy.  That paw looks really swollen and is probably excrutiating to walk on.  Try to get her to a vet or a rescue group ASAP if you possibly can.  Poor thing really looks like it needs immediate attention.  Please keep us posted if you can.

Which state are you located in, if you are in the U.S. Someone here might know of a rescue group in your area which can help.

I am in the Washington State in the US. I have been doing some research as well hoping to find something that will help me observe the cat better so I can help the doctor. I really want to help her so I will have to figure something out to get her to a vet soon. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

If you say where you are, someone here might know about a shelter and/or vet you haven't found.

Rosa Lee..I know this was posted a while back, but this is the closest thing I have found to my kitty's problems. I am so worried. I brought her to the vet who said it was an infection on a cut. Its been almost the full antibiotic period and there has been no change. It's black, hard and crusty. She doesn't limp at all or act different, but she does try to bite it of course.

I am so afraid it's cancer. What happened with the beautiful kitty?

Go back to the vets.  The antibiotics should have started a big improvement after a few days though of course you would finish the course.  And be honest about your fears.

Rosa Lee hasn't been online since June so I doubt they are visiting here anymore.
