Here's my angel calico Kuce. This picture was taken a few months before she passed over to the RB in Oct. 2012 from cancer at the nice age of 19 years.

Kuce with her adopted kitten Lil' Jag (LJ was about 4-5 months in the picture).

Ok here are my calico and tortie furbabies.
These are of Claude, my baby boy who we lost in Sept 2012, He was an amazing cat and would let me do anything with him.
This was Scully, who we had to send to the Rainbow Bridge in Dec 2012. She was a prissy cat who would only let the girls fuss her.
Claude and Scully in their fave spot in the garden.
This is Gizmo who now lives with my youngest daughter and her hubby and was born last April.
And this is Harley, she lives with us and her 3 brothers and her mum and is Gizmos sister.
Here's Harley with her brothers, Monty, Bubba and Simba lieing on me the other night.

What a wonderful long life she had and she looks amazing in that photo. Her coat was beautiful, rich and thick.

Here is my dilute tortie girl Mercedes.
Sweet, gorgeous face. Looks like you can the see some orange on her back.

Khaleesi is a Torbie. Her back legs are completely orange with orange stripes!
She is such a pretty girl. And your photography is phenomenal.

Lovely kitties! That's a beautiful warm, furry, purry blanket you've got in the last photo. I'm sorry for your loss of Claude and Scully. The end of 2012 was a rough time for you.

If she's got stripes on her dark patches, she's a torbie--a tabby tortoiseshell. I don't see stripes, though, so there's probably no tabby M either...

Calico and tortie explanation:
Tortoiseshell cats are black and orange--solid black, striped orange. They are practically always female. If a tortie doesn't have any white, she will have small patches of black and orange. The more white, the larger the colored patches are.
Calico is a widespread regional term used for "tortoiseshell and white", mostly in the United States. The more white on the cat, the more likely she is to be called a "calico".

There are variations on calico and tortie.
"Torbie" is what you call a cat with brown-striped and orange-striped fur. She may be a torbie-and-white, in which case she can be casually called a "caliby", but that's not an official term.
Dilute colors are possible--cream and gray instead of black and red. Either torties or calicos can be dilute. My cat Christy (see sig) is a dilute tortie-and-white; or, if you like, a dilute calico. And of course you could have a dilute torbie or dilute caliby, too.

Calico and tortie cats can also be pointed, with a dark tail, mask, and paws in calico or tortie colors, and a light body.

If you're at a cat show, "tortoiseshell and white" is probably the term they will use, and "torbie" or "patched tabby" for the striped ones.

This is my cat Purdy aka Pooh bear or gummy bear

She is now 13 years old. When we got her she was very fat with rotten teeth. She had to have all her teeth removed (that's why she is now known as gummy bear)
She lost the weight but that left her with loads of excess skin. Which swings side to side when she walks LOL :lol3: Unfortunately this means people think she is pregnant when they see her for the first time but she's not she just got a very very saggy belly.

Tippi sat by the window this afternoon . We are very high up we live on the top floor of an eleven story block of flats, Tippi loves watching the traffic below I am sure she thinks that all cars are matchbox size . If your worried the windows are always locked , Tippi and Tallulah do have access to an enclosed balcony

Another pic of Yappy. I was out in the cold wind and came in. Thought I'd watch the afternoon news and the TV ended up watching me instead. Wife seen Yappy find a spot and fall asleep along side me and took a picture to show me. She says I'm a cat magnet.

Heh, that cat looks comfy! She's found herself a warm human to lounge next to.

This is one of the two strays that roam the campground here.  This one will sometimes hang out just beneath the window of our RV listening to Si talk to him.   I was shocked a moment ago that when we left for lunch he was just standing there, almost beside me and when I talked he meowed back.

And if I correctly understand my continuing education here .. I think he (I say he because it seems to have a male sort of face) is a dilute calico since he is dark gray and white.  Those are the only colors on him.

Pretty thing ..
