Delilah is eating much better now, as long as i rinse her nose out a few times a day to keep it as clear as possible. I think the steroid drops are helping a bit as well. She is still not back to being as active as she was but she is doing good. She actually gets really excited and follows me when I get her food ready. As of right now I think she will stay with me permanently. I'm not sure I could trust anyone else with her. I have fallen in love with her and by the time she would even be big enough to go it will really be hard to let go. I know my vet knows her history and I do too so any care she would need medically would be taken care of with no doubt.

Aww Panda!! Your such a wonderful kitty parent! I'm glad to hear Delilah is doing better today! After all the nourishing and love that you've given her I can only imagine the bond the 2 of you have formed! I couldn't imagine breaking such an unbelievable bond! I'll make sure to keep the 2 of you in my thoughts and prayers!

I have not been able to get over to TCS all week and was anxious to see how this was playing out.  I am SO GLAD she is doing so much better!  She is such a cutie pie too!  What a good person you are to have so much love for this precious little one.

I don't think I could let a foster go after such a journey with him or her either.  Suspect she will bring you huge pleasure over the years.

Delilah has me worried again. She was not doing well yesterday and continues to feel yucky today. Her nose is so closed on the one side she is really working hard to breath, her lungs are great according to the vet so it has to be her nose. She doesn't want to do much more than sleep and sit around. I am syringe feeding her again because she only eats a tiny bit from the plate, I'm sure it is hard to eat when you are trying to breath. Steaming her up helps a bit, but it doesn't last long. I have been treating her with the vaporizer several times to try to help open her nose, but i think it is healing wrong. I am giving these steroids a chance to work but if come tomorrow her breathing is still rough we will go to the vet and see what our options are.

Even if it's healing wrong, I imagine they could always re-open the hole where her nostril is supposed to be and place a teeny tiny tube there to give her more airflow.

I'm sorry to hear she isn't doing well again. She is such a brave little kitten and she loves you so much. I will pray for her, that this is just a temporary setback. She deserves a loving healed life after all she has been through! And you have made her feel loved and wanted through all of this and that is what matters most.

OH dear.... sad to read that she is not feeling well today. :sniffle: I am sending all of the vibes I can muster her way tonight. She certainly has been through so much and is a little trooper. I do hope that she will get past this. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Update on the Delilah roller coaster she keeps me on...

I spent all day yesterday using the vaporizer, rinsing her nose, and rubbing Vaseline on her nose and picking any crusties that I could soften up with it out of her nose. She protested but I managed to clear some out of her nose, I couldn't even tell that some of it was even up there. Every few hours I would go through and do all of that to her. I think all of this in combination with the steroids she is breathing better, and early this morning she cleared a whole plate of food on her own. Her breathing is not perfect but seems a lot easier than it has been for the last few days. We are going to hold off going to the vet until after she finishes the steroid drops, to see if she continues to head in the right direction.

Her energy seems better too. She will bat a little at a toy if you wave it in front of her, but that is the extent of her play. She is up and walking around without having to lay down every few feet like she was. I cant even begin to tell you how excited I was this morning during our petting session. I was giving her head rubs and stroking her just like always but today my little fluff ball was purring up a storm. It started off so low that I couldn't even hear it and could barely feel it, but after a minuet she was just purring away. I didn't want to stop petting her, that was the first time in the month that she has been sick that I have heard her purr.

I think even her pictures show how much better she feels...

Saturday while she felt terrible...

Oh, gosh, I'm sorry she's having some problems -- may they only be temporary and may the vet be able to help her so she can grow and thrive!

I want to scoop her up from the screen (and I'm not a kitten person in general) and hold her against my neck so I can hear her purr. The bond between you must be getting stronger every day. It's wonderful that you have fought your way through every complication.

for little Delilah!
I didnt stop for a long time. She has been such a snuggly purr bug since too. She is laying on my shoulder purring as I type this.
She's such a sweetie! Nose or not, she's captured my heart <3
She is good at that. I have fallen completely in love with her. She amazes me with how she continues to fight and improve.

You could hear her purring now with out even being close. She is a happy little girl today!

I am hoping it is over too. She deserves to be happy and healthy. As long as her nose continues to heal without closing up I think we should be good. She just really needs to put on some weight and grow some. She is so tiny still. I had her weighed at the vet yesterday and she is now 11oz and 10 weeks old.

If she gets lethargic again, maybe you can syringe feed her with prescription a/d from the vet (it has the consistency of a slushie) and see about giving her subcutaneous fluids. I know you don't want to put one more thing on her, but sometimes that will really help to perk up a little kitty :-)

I'm glad she is doing better today too :-) :-)

She has already been on a/d for the last month
, so when she stops eating I go back to syringe feeding her. There was a point when she was so weak she could not hold even her head up and she had dropped from 7oz to 3.5 in 2 days time.
I went from feeding her every 3-4 hours to every 1-2 hours and she pulled through.
Every time she has stopped eating, I don't even wait I just start syringe feeding her until she gets better. Every time she sees the vet, which tends to be every few days she gets sub-q. Your right though the sub-q really helps perk her up. Every time she has had it when she was more sick she was much perkier afterwards. In all honesty as bad as I feel when she has to be medicated or treated and she hates it, if it makes her better in the end it is all worth it.

Thanks I hope she continues to feel better.
