Treasure is right at nine months old.  She's a pure bred Norwegian Forest Cat whom I intend to show and breed when she's 2 or 3 (no kittens in her immediate future).

Over the past few days she's become *much* more talkative.  And tonight when she was getting her back rub, I scratched the top of her tail and she crouched her front down, but then rolled over onto her back as if to say "pet my belly instead."

I know it's just a matter of time until she's sexually mature, just not sure what I'm looking for in a cat.

Thanks Stepahnie.

I suspected, but I wasn't sure.

It's going to be a long couple of years until we have babies.  But, I want to make sure she's ready and I'm ready.  And I need to make sure she does get her Champion before I breed.  If she can't make it, then I'll spay because I won't do anything that wouldn't contribute to the breed.  No matter how beautiful I think she is, if the standard doesn't match, then we're done.

She should title well before 2-3 years old, our adult class begins at 9 months but I think in the US it's 8 months. So she should get it well before 12 months old, though I know she won't be fully mature at that age I'm sure your mentors will guide you on the best time to breed her.

3 years of uncontrolled cycling won't be good for her, hopefully you've got a plan on how to manage her.

Good to know that she'll title long before then.  I had planned to show her as a kitten to see what I was working with, but my job got in the way (amazing how a 40 hour a week job can take 90 hours a week when a project goes south).

My mentor has started asking me what my plans are and if I've thought about a mate yet.  Sounds like it's time to start thinking about it.

She may decide she doesn't like showing anyway lol I've always started with kittens, except for my import and she started in adult class just fine.

Definitely time to start making plans :)

The people I know who show entire female cats plan the showing round the breeding, not the breeding round the showing.  It's far better for the cat's health.  Also, there are plenty of untitled female cats - and female cats that will never get a title - producing excellent kittens, so long as they are with the right stud for them, a stud that excels where they are not so good.

And as Missymotus says, there are some wonderful cats that simply don't like being shown and will never show well.
