So the other day I decided to buy World's Best Cat Litter since it was on sale and is better for kitties and the environment and all that stuff. I poured a bit of it in the litter box after I scooped this morning because I figured I should take the transition slow and what-not. Well, when I came home from work not too long ago, I walked into the bathroom to find THIS:

:doh3:
I don't know if he thought it was food or what, but there are like 10 holes in the bag now and I'm dreading trying to clean it up.

My MIL's cat does this with both cat and dog food (depending on how hungry he is and the type of food they got). He'd even do it with a chip bag if he had the chance. MAJOR chip (especially corn) addiction. :lol3:

Figured out why he destroyed the bag... He thought it was food....
Even after a YEAR of being off dry, he still recognizes the sound of a kibble bag and will do anything to get at the 'food' inside.

I went to scoop litter for his box and had him come dashing after me, meowing (before I started the video), and swirling around my legs. (Not to mention that he has been scratching at the closet door ever since I had to hide the litter in there..) I poured it in his box and he swiped at me with claws to get at what I had. And even when he saw what was poured out, he didn't want to give up, and like you see in this video, continues to follow me back and forth to the bag. I even poured a small amount into his bowl to show him it was indeed NOT food, but that didn't help, he just clawed at me as I pulled away...

I think I may turn this into a thread of it's own because it scares me how addicting dry food is and how unfair the companies play when it comes to feeding our cats right...

Maybe put the litter in a large pail with a lid so you can ditch the bag? Gotta say he's pretty darn cute
, but it probably seems quite frustrating to him.

Minka, I truly laughed out out at your video, (1) because your cat looks like my cat Sweet Kitty in her "fuller" days, and (2) the way he tries to grab your hand to see what's in there is just a riot.

I can't leave bags of anything out or Zach will poke a thousand vampire holes in them!

Thanks for sharing.  (:

So cute!  Blair isn't very pushy, but the tuxedo cat Max at my parents' house has similar reactions to cereal bags too!

Hannah bites and chews on our WBCL bags, too!  We have to put them in a closet or in the garage out of her reach.

I'm sorry.  I realize how frustrated  you must be but I think he's adorable and love your video.  I swear, though, I'd trip over the little guy, klutz that I am and the way he seems to block your path. It looks like he's trying to get you to stop and give him some of that good food he is so darn certain you are keeping from him, darn it all!!!

Oh, I have to be on my toes because otherwise I Will trip over him. What's more is that he'll TRY to trip me by reaching his leg around my ankle! lol

doesnt matter whether you own dogs or cats, our lovable pets regularly attack harmless shopping bags. But its not the safest of toys so hopefully they wont harm themselves if we're not around.

Welp.  We're in the same boat.  I left the house for a half hour and foolishly left this bag on the counter while all the cats were asleep.  I came home to this:
