I ordered a Kobo eReader from our Shopping Channel in Canada. It arrived on Wednesday and I have had a chance to use it for a couple of days.  I love it!!!

It's this model:

http://www.kobobooks.com/touch

I wanted the silver but they were sold out, so I picked the mauve.

It came with a brown leather book cover with a built in light, to protect the reader and make it feel more like you are reading an actual book.

It's taken a bit to get used to the touch screen. This model does not have a back light to the reader, which I like because I find my eyes get super tired from looking at a bright screen. If I need more light I just turn on the one that comes with the book cover.

It's taken some time but I finally managed to convert file types and transfer the files from my compaq mini to the Kobo.  I didn't mind reading on my mini, but the lid and keyboard were a pain, plus this is small enough to fit into my purse and I can take it with me.

It's only been 2 days, but I'm loving it.  I wasn't sure if I would or not, which is why I've never gotten one until now. But I figure the Shopping Channel has a 30 day no questions asked return policy, so I figured I'd give it a try.

I'm not surprised that you love it. I've had a Kindle for a couple of years now and think eReaders are a terrific invention.

My Nook Tablet goes everywhere. I've been having a lot of doctor appointments lately and so my Nook goes with me to the appointments, too. I think it's wonderful that I can grab library books without leaving the house and I always have five library books on the Nook. But I'm also finding that I like to store new books on the Nook now instead of buying them in hard cover. We were getting to the point where we don't know what to do with physical books anymore.....there's no more space in the house.

I'm getting many of my magazines on my Nook Color now.  I like that I can put the Nook in my truck bag and have a bunch of books and magazines with me all the time.

I have a kobo too. Not the touch though. I have this one. http://www.kobobooks.com/wifi  I love it. It comes with me everyday and I use it on the bus on my way home and at night before I go to bed. One of my classmates has the touch and I was playing around with it one day, and I like it much better. I got mine for my birthday last year. They were quite a bit more expensive then and I didn't want my husband to spend the extra and get the touch.

I have a kobo reader that was a Christmas gift in 2010.  I rarely use it--guess I just like to feel of a book in my hand.  I have a book I've downloaded and for the life of me I can't get it into that kobo!  I've managed to get half a dozen or so installed, but for some reason this one is giving me fits!

Anyway, glad you like it---enjoy!

Download and install Adobe Essentials. It's free.

Then connect your Kobo to the computer and let it sync up.

Then open Adobe Essentials if it didn't already open.

In the left menu of the library you will find "Kobo" in the list.

Simply drag and drop the books onto the word "Kobo".

Kobo will only accept ePub or PDF files.

If you have another format, you can convert it to ePub using this online conversion site:  http://ebook.online-convert.com/convert-to-epub

If you don't want to drag and drop, you can add them to the Kobo folder directly.

When your Kobo is connected, go to MyComputer and find the Kobo "Drive".  Double click to open it.  In one of the folders you will find all of the books you have stored on your Kobo.  Simply copy/paste your desired books into that folder.

On my Kobo, I just have a separate folder called "Digital Editions" that I drag and drop all of my files into.

The Kobo touch supports MOBI files as well as epub and pdf. I put tons of books on my classmates Kobo touch in MOBI format and they all work fine. My Kobo does not support those files though.

Mine is a Kobo Touch, but I couldn't load MOBI files onto my Kobo. I had to convert them to ePub.

That's weird, it even says on the Kobo website that it supports MOBI files. http://www.kobobooks.com/touch_tech

The way I put them on my classmates Kobo was just to make a folder called "Digital Editions" and paste them all in there and they work fine.
