Hi I'm Dawn! My 6 cats are nice enough to share the house with me and my others pets that include dogs, ferrets, birds and a rabbit.
My feline crew includes Omar, a DLH found as stray, Pyro, a Siamese mix adopted from a shelter, Bitsa, a DSH found as a stray, Charm, a DLH, brought into the emergency vet clinic I worked at as a stray, and then Minuit, a DSH and Roughkeepsie, a Ragdoll, both adopted through Diabetic Cats in Need.
I adopted Minuit last July when her owners could no longer keep her. She had just been diagnosed diabetic. Pough was adopted last September when his owner passed away. Pough had been on insulin for about 5 years when he got here. I switched both of them off the dry food they had been on and onto canned. Both are now diet controlled, in fact Pough only needed 2 insulin shots after arriving both times after I had given him a spoonful of grain-free dry food. The cat in my avatar is Woody a diabetic Ragdoll I had adopted 5 years ago when he was going to be put to sleep. He was not able to be diet controlled probably because he was not diagnosed soon after showing symptoms, but he was a great cat and I decided to adopt Minuit and then Pough because of him.
