I was out taking Aya for her noon walk a few minutes ago. She likes to be walked out to the back field where we have some overgrown Xmas trees leftover from my folks' farming days. The trees attract all sorts of birds and wildlife which in tern attracts Aya. Anyway, in between the trees there are some burrows; rabbit sized, I don't know who dug them out originally, but sometime this spring an opportunistic woodchuck moved in.

Today we rounded a batch of trees and I saw Mr. Chuck poking himself out of one set of burrows. I went over to check him out. I waited and he played peek-a-boo from the entrance to his safe hole. We've done this before. This particular burrow is shallow and the 2nd exit is only 2 feet away, so he's effectively trapped in there.

Aya, meanwhile, couldn't be less interested, she was sitting under one of the Xmas trees watching for birds. Finally, She must've caught a whiff of him, because all of a sudden she trots over and sticks her head down the rear entrance. They've played this face off before and she wasn't hurt, so I'm not too worried. He's mostly a shy chuck and wants us to go away so he can be left in peace.

So, she pokes her head down there and paws for a few minutes to no avail. Chuck is not stupid and has no intention of coming out to play. She backs out of the burrow and I figure, "Okay game's done for now,". But I'm wrong.

Aya turns around, backs her rear end into the hole, squats and pees in the chuck hole with the woodchuck in it before walking away!

There's Cattitude for ya!
