Thought this would be fun. I've moved 8 times in my life and lived in multiple states. Ones in red are the one's we still have.

In my 22yr's I've had:

Cats:

Miss Kitty: Grey tabby w/white markings,. My parents got her when we lived in the Marshall Island. Had to leave her with a fisherman when we moved back to the states.

Fluffy: Grey tabby. My mom got her and her brother for free from a coworker at the elementary school she worked at. For reason's I will never know, my parents didn't get either fixed. We ended up with around 20 cats
, in a single family suburban home. (No one noticed because it was a rundown, gang infested, high crime area). She had to have had up to 50 kittens before my dad took her and her last litter and let them loose in some nearby woods.
This happened when I was ten.

Mischief: Grey tabby. Fluffy's brother, also not fixed. He got in a bad fight, lost an eye and ran away a year later. I remeber my mom carrying him outside with his head facing her, as he continued to spray whatever he had started spraying.

Bandicoot: Long haired grey tabby. One of Fluffy's kittens, he was driven away by another tom.

Peewee: Grey Tabby, . One of Fluffy's last kittens. She was the runt of the litter, one of the reasons we kept her. She was spayed, declawed in front (she was destructive) and slowly grew into a fat and grumpy old lady. We owned her for 11 years, we think a coyote got her.

Kobyashi: Tuxedo. A little kitten we found in a bush in front of our house. Turned out he had Distemper. Was euthanized a few days later.

Cassidy: Beige tabby. We got her from a rescue that is based at a PetSmart store. She has a GI problem that was found when she was being spayed. She will puck up to 10 times a week, yet manages to remain overweight. She is the alpha cat.

Jessie: Diluted calico. From the same rescue as Cassidy. She has terrible allergies and even came with a small bottle of eyedropes when we adopted her. She will randomly loose her fur, vets don't know what she is allergic to.

Houdini (Houdy): Long haired black. He was free from the feedstore. He was so named since they he woulnd't stay in a cage and always found a way out. He never got fixed and wandered away.

Jayde: Siberian Mountain Cat. Was free off CL. Her old owner could no longer keep her due to her husband needing a kidney transplant. She is slowly going senile.

Jazz: Long haired grey tabby. Wandered up to the house one day. She ended up being pregnant and had seven kittens. Two of the kittens didn't make it, so now I have three males and two females. Paxton, Steve, and Ardeshir are the boys and Greta and Mizti are the girls.

Ardeshir (Ardy): Grey tabby. He is almost a week old and has one extra toe on each front paw, plus a kink in his tail.

Dogs:

Nina: B&W Husky mix. Got her from the shelter when we got back from the island. She ate some rat poison a day before she was supposed to be spayed, she almost bled out when the did the surgery. Given to a Husky Rescue after she became too much dog for us at the time.

Nala: Tri colored long haired small breed mix. Got her from a pet store in the mall. She was one of the smartest dogs I've ever known. She was house trained within a day and rarely had accidents. My mom once jokingly told her to "Get the cat, Nala!" and she jumped on top of Peewee when she was in her bed (cat was ok). Died in '08 from Lymphoma.

Chance: Red Chow mix. Dad got him from a coworker. He ate the wall, marked on the furniture and was too protective of me. Gave him to a soldier.

Chevy: Chocolate Lab mix. Free from the newspaper. She was given to a girl by her boyfriend. When they broke up the girl wanted nothing to due with her. She was neglected and abused. When we got her she had no sense of smell, was covered in ticks and was scared of everything. Euthanized in '10 at the age of 12 for old age and diabetes complications.

Zane: Reverse brindle pit mix. Was only one of two surviving pups that someone at tied fireworks aroudn their necks and lit. He is fear aggressive and does not like strange dogs or people. He also will "talk" to you if you don't scratch his back / give him a treat when he wants it.

Abby: Shiba Inu mix. Got her from an adoption day event. She was found with her  mom and littermates in a vacant lot.

Deputy: Brindle w/white Catahula mix. Free ad in a feed store. His owner rescued dogs on death row and had too many at the time.

Horses

Little Bit: 15hh Bay QH. My mom bought her from a lady that owned a stable. Turned out he was proud cut (not gelded fully) and hated all other male horse. He ran a gelding through a fence, breaking both front legs. Would seperate the mares from the geldings and make them all night. Sold when we had to move.

Tuxedo: 15hh B&W QH x Clyd. Got from a rescue that lied to us. He was bombproof until he gained a few pounds. Sold after he tried to kill me.

Dusty: 15hh varnish roan mustang X appy. Got him from a family that does Field Trials (foxhunting without the fox). They no longer wanted him due to the fact he couldn't make them money. They got him from a trainer in AZ, who got him off a Navajo reservation. He died in '10 from a heart attack at the age of 23.

Patch 30in silver dapple paint Miniature. Reject from a breeder. He wasn't "perfect" in her opinion. Got him for $500 when all her other horses where 2k and up. He thinks he's a goat and gaurds the herd.

Goats:

Girls: Belle Starr, Josey, Lovey, Dovey, Snickers, Belle, Mishka, Angel, Brier, Bunny, Oreo, Sasha, Coco Puff, Josephine, Ginger Snap, Bridgitte, Ari, Athena, Jazz, Kali, Ginger, Mica, Sabrina, Puddin', Warbler, Zoe, Molly, Angelica, Chickadee, and Delilah.

Boys: Juan, Archie, Sunny, Wyatt, Rollo, Alexi, Loki, Fox, Taffy, Eli, Wren, Eddy, Casper, Dante.

Asorted small reptiles, birds, chickens (Pheonix, Raven and Fawn), mice, rats( Ratty, Midnight and Blaze), Rabbits (Gidget and Roy), fish, etc.

What an interesting topic! I'll do the same as you and put my current pets in red.

Cats:

Frisco: My dad took me to my favourite pet store when I was about 4-5 and let me pick out a cat. The kittens were free if you bought a cat starter kit, lol. I named her after my friend's cat that had recently passed away. She was a calico and overweight almost her entire life, developed diabetes and 6 years later went into a diabetic coma. We took her to the emergency vet but made the decision to have her euthanized due to quality of life when she came out of the coma. She was 18 when she passed.

Lois: When I was in grade 5 my friend's cat had a litter of kittens. There was one dark grey/blue kitten in particular that I would always play with when I was over there. For a grade 5 graduation present, my parents let me have her. She had a heart murmur and sadly passed away two summers ago when she was around 14 years old.

Stanley (Stan): Mike and I adopted him in the fall of 2010 from the animal control centre here. He was 8 at the time, a beautiful black cat. We didn't know at the time, but he had FIP. He passed away 2 months after we adopted him. He loved to play fetch and catch.

Leikie (KiKi Meow Meows): The February after Stan passed we were ready to get another cat. We posted an ad on Kijiji with our requirements (spayed/neutered if old enough, age appropriate shots, must be used to dogs). We got a ton of responses but kept coming back to her. At the time she was a 10 month old siamese mix, the man who owned her had been given to her by his friends that bred her. He had come to realize that he was more of a dog person (he had a chihuahua) so when he saw our ad he contacted us. She came with a TON of stuff and has been a wonderful cat. It did take her about 2 weeks to get used to us and she still doesn't like new people (she'll go under the bed and sleep). She's a very wonderful cat.

Baby Kitteh (he has no name yet, lol): A few weeks ago someone left a kitten in a box behind the pet food store that I work at. It was a Sunday and we didn't know what to do so I brought him home. He stayed in the bathroom for the first week and integrated himself into our household and is here to stay. He's a brown tabby, about 10 weeks old now.

Dogs:

Tipper: He was the best dog anyone could ask for. I had been asking my parents for a dog for a long time and they finally agreed, I was in grade 3 at the time. We found an ad in the paper for shepherd/collie mix puppies for $25. My mom picked him up when he was old enough and then came to pick me up from school, she was sure he was dead because he just slept the entire car ride, lol. He chewed through a wall at one point, but other than that he was the perfect dog. He developed kidney disease when he was 7 and passed away at age 13 when his kidneys ruptured.

Sadie: As I was finishing my last semester of college I decided to get a dog of my own (at this point Tipper was still alive, he passed away 4 months later). I made a short list of breeds that I liked and decided to go with the dachshund. When Sadie was about 5 months old she started having petit mal seizures and was diagnosed with juvenile epilepsy. She never grew out of it though, so she's still epileptic. We have been able to manage her seizures through diet and limiting her excitement. She's also intolerant to both beef and grains. She'll be 7 this October.

Fynn: Because of Sadie's bad breeding and our love of dachshunds my friend and I decided to start up a breeding program. We both fell in love with Fynn's picture on his breeders website and decided to purchase him after many talks with his owner. He flew to Buffalo in December of 2009. He's been an awesome little dog to have and has done great in the show ring. He'll be 4 in August, his only problem is an allergy to duck.

Josh: We adopted Josh from an abusive situation just over a year ago. She was an awesome 7 year old blue based red brindle pit bull mix. She was great with the cats and the dachshunds. Unfortunately, we live in an area with BSL and when Mike and I separated temporarily and both had to move, we couldn't find anyone to take care of her for us. We got her into a great rescue and she's since been adopted and doing wonderfully. We miss her very much and wish that she was still with us.

Oh gosh, lets see if I can remember.... in order from first to last pet.

Sassy- a long haired Siamese mix I found when I was 5 digging around in our trash. She absolutely loved me, and hated everyone else. My one distinct memory of her is my 6th birthday when she brought a HUGE sewer rat in through our front door and up to my bedroom, dropped it and meowed. I heard my mom scream and came out of the room with my friends. Funny thing is, she had never came inside before. We think she knew it was my birthday and was bringing me a present. I think my mom made me leave her there when we moved, not too sure though.

Speedy- My first and only rabbit. I loved him very much and had received him for a birthday present. Sadly one of my neighbor kids let him out of his cage and he ran into the street and was hit by a car

Max- my hamster. My only real memory of him is of his two large yellow front teeth when he bit my finger and there was blood everywhere and I screamed bloody murder. I suppose my mom probably got rid of him after that.

Lady- A Golden Retriever we took from our neighbor that lived around the block from us and we shared a back fence with. Unfortunately, Lady kept digging under the fence to get back to her momma and littermates. The woman took Lady to Haven Humane without even talking to or notifying us. When we finally discovered what happened and went to pick her up, Lady had already been adopted.

Lady #2- About 3 months after our Lady was taken from us a random golden retriever showed up at our house. She looked IDENTICAL to Lady, and we always wondered if it really was Lady found her way back to us. No way to know for sure, so we called her #2. I honestly cannot remember what happened to her, though.

Alex- a tiny orange kitten someone had left on the side of the rode my mom found and brought him home to me. After a few days he began to become sick, and my mom couldn't afford the vet. She tried to have her friend sneak him away, but I discovered her plan and threw the biggest fit, crying and screaming and clutching him. Eventually, they told me her friend was taking him to Haven Humane to get proper care and convinced me it would be best. I let him go.

Momma Kitty (black and white) and her three babies (one black and white, two all black), Cruiser, Shamrock, and Bear- My mom and I used to go around looking at houses for rent for fun, getting in through an unlocked door or window to check out the places and dream about living there. We found this momma kitty and her three babies stuck inside a dresser in this abandoned house, heard the mewing. We brought them home and myself, my brother, and my sister each named a kitten. Cruiser was mine. had them for about two weeks, until my mom told me she 'took them to a pumpkin patch to be happy and run free' when they disappeared. I asked her about 8 months ago what she did with them really, she told me she drove into a random neighborhood and dropped them off.
Makes me so mad.

Sasha- A pitbull mix that we were 'baby sitting' for a few months while my mom's boyfriend's friend [the owner] was down south visiting family. We became very attached to her and as the owner never treated her well, asked if we could keep her and he agreed. Sadly, Sasha was a massive escape artist, didn't matter how high our fences were or how tight we chained her. She broke free and was hit by a car one morning :(

Buster (aka Buzzy D)- a queensland heiler/border collie mix and one of the funniest dogs ever. We took him home from the shelter when he was about 9 months. He played hide-n-seek, you covered his eyes and counted and all the kids hide- then he'd find us one by one and bring us back to my mom. He loved singing with you, loved running up the pool ladder and swimming with you. Sadly, Buster got parvo. We paid $1000 dollars worth of vet bills to try to save him and brought home IVs and pedialite and his medication because we couldn't afford to keep him in the hospital. The night he went he seemed so energetic and happy, we thought he was going to make it. He died under my bed.

Sonny- A woman at my moms work was getting rid of kittens. My mom took home Sonny a cute grey tabby who is now about 16 pounds, along with his sister Cher a beautiful calico. They are still with my mom today and are probably about 10 years old or so.

Bella- A German Shepherd/Afghan Hound mix we rescued from the shelter as a surprise for my moms boyfriend. She has thyroid problems and is on medication. She'll be 8 this year.

Schmoopy- A random calico kitten/cat who showed up at our house one day. My brother was sleeping on the back porch and she walked up, same colors as our Cher and he thought it was her. He gave her loving and she never left.

Bo- A German Shepherd/lab mix my mom rescued from the shelter about 4 years ago when he was 2. He is very beautiful and way too sweet. Him and Bella are best buds.

Chief- Purebred English Bulldog my boyfriend and I convinced his parents to buy from the pet store. He had issues and needed surgery for his eyes because his eyelashes rolled into them and irritated them. Sadly, he had a stroke very randomly one day while running. He was at the vet for 3 days and the vet called us and told us he was doing great and we could come pick him up at 3. Literally 5 minutes after that call we received another call saying Chief had just had a heart attack and they were not able to revive him. We had to bury our big boy that day.

Cortana- A registered Olde English Bull Dog my boyfriend's parents bought from a breeder while in Vegas to be friends with Chief. She is healthy and a BIG GIRL and still with them today.

Dillinger- About 3 years into mine and my boyfriend's relationship we found an amazing bluenose pitbull breeder in Oregon and got our baby boy. He was born September 5, and will be 4 years old this year. Purebred, UKC registered and papered. Love of our lives.

Luna- My first cat out of my parents home. Gorgeous grey tabby. She's still with me, is almost 3 years old and is a very grumpy little thing.

Lupin- littermate to Luna I brought home about two weeks after her. He sadly disappeared about a year after I got him and never returned, my searching never revealed anything.

Muffin- About 6 months after we got Luna Muffin showed up as a feral calico kitten, probably 10 weeks old. She fell in love with Lupin and stuck around even after he disappeared, and long enough to have two litters before I could finally trap and spay her! She'll be 3 around August.

Stella- One of the kittens from Muffins first litter, a beautiful dilute calico. She's a lazy thing and prefers to sleep and eat over anything. She'll be 2 in June.

Onyx- Stella's littermate and sister. A beautiful black and white tuxedo and a mischievous, vocal thing. She makes us laugh constantly.

Maynard- A kitten from a litter we found under my boyfriend's mom's porch born to a feral. He got a major eye infection and ended up having one eye grow over and shut. So he became a one-eyed kitty. Our Maynard disappeared end of August last year while we were on vacation and a friend was feeding them. He never returned and there's still fliers up :(

Tiva- Female from Muffin's second litter. We couldn't find her a home, so she ended up staying with us, as well as her brother. Due to the fact that they were feral for the first 8 weeks of their life they have social issues, and Tiva escaped from her carrier while en route to the vet to be spayed, and came home 5 weeks later with a massive belly. The babies are 4 weeks old and all spoken for. She turned 1 on 4/20

Indy- A beautiful long haired tabby from Muffin's second litter, also Tiva's brother. He's very shy and always crouches away from your hand. After he was fixed he seems to be a little more attention seeking- so hopefully there will be more progress. 1 year old.

Wild Thing- An orange female tabby that showed up at our house about a year ago, full grown and obviously socialized. She recently had an eye problem and we scheduled a vet appointment and made a point to keep her contained (my boyfriend slept on the floor in the living room with her with the cat door closed because she freaked out in the carrier so bad). Unfortunately she somehow pried that cat door up and escaped. She hasn't returned since, and I pray it's because she's mad at us instead of her being injured.

Monster- a beautiful kitten that showed up under a bush in my yard in the beginning of September last year, his eyes stuck shut and covered in cobwebs. I brought him inside and cleaned him up, and eventually came to create a bond with this kitten that was absolutely amazing. He was the most unique cat i've ever had. Sadly, end of February we came home to find Monster had been hit by a car and lay near our driveway. That was one of the hardest nights of my life.

Black Kitty- A random stray that showed up at our house about 6 months ago, very friendly. We got him neutered about 3 weeks ago and he is doing great, back to his neighborhood. He comes in sometimes to eat as he taught himself to use our cat door.

Hercules- The newest addition to our family. One of Tiva's litter, the runt. I swear he is Monster reincarnated. I never had, or have even seen a kitten give kisses before Monster- and Hercules gave me his first kiss when he was just 2 1/2 weeks old. I can't let him go.

If I started listing the cats I have had (50+ years worth) this would be the longest post ever! Just too many and I loved them all. :heart3:
The first one I remember is Tom Tinker, a blue tabby DSH who reigned over the back yard and saved our family from smoke inhalation when the chimney to our coal furnace was blocked somehow.
Current felines are Aristotle the white DSH and Topaz, a mink/cream tortie and white DSH.

Dogs that I remember include Teddy Bear (blond cocker spaniel), Angel (beagle), Rex (Red and White cocker), and Roxie (blond cocker and Rex's sister).
There was a puppy when I was born but I don't remember the name.

Apart from the cats and dogs, the only other pets were a couple of goldfish and a guinea pig named Gertrude.

thirteen years worth of pets.

 Cats:

Mitten: black and white feral male, he was my first cat and my baby. He used to walk me to school every morning. he was hit and killed by a car when he was two. R.I.P Mitty. You had more spirit then any cat cat I'd ever met. love you.

Marmalade: Marmz is actually my brothers cat. he is a four-year orange tabby male. he's more of a dog than a cat, and the cause of almost all my problems.

Boo: My little black siamese cross. She is the prettiest thing. she has glossy black fur and blue-green eyes. she was very shy when we got her, but now follows me around the house mewing.

Rats:

Diamond: Diamond was a little adventurer. always getting in trouble. she many times encountered our cocker-spaniel, Curly. R.I.P Diamond.

Jane: Jane was Diamond's twin. the two looked the same, but were truly opposite. Jane was quiet and sweet. the gentlest little thing ever. R.I.P Jane. miss you girls.

Dog:

Curly: Curly was my brother's dog when I was a baby, and died when I was nine. he was the sweetest, quietest old man. He always reminded me of a grandfather. (both of mine died when i was very little and I only remember one.)

I love animals, but haven't had many pets. I have friends who, at this moment, own 1 cat, 2 dogs, 2 hamsters, 4 horses, and 13 chickens as pets.

As a child I had two dogs at different times, my limit set by my father was one at a time, both were stray Heinz 57s, Tramp and Vincent.  The second one came with that name stamped on his collar.

My ex and I had several dogs, a St. Bernard that thought he was a lap dog, an English Sheep Dog, a doberman, a chow and a Siberian Husky. My favorite was the Siberian Husky. The name on his papers was Sir Bismark of Survey Pass. We got him as a puppy and had every intention of calling him Bismark but that turned into Bozo and it stuck. We didn't have all those dogs at the same time, that would've been mayhem. I had a cockatiel for a few months but I found out that I am not a bird person and was able to find another home for her.

I now have two cats both 9 year old moggie rescues, Patches and Alice.

Lets see...

Jeremy: Sable colored Ferret. He was MEAN, used to chase us around and try to steal our slippers in the morning. He was eventually given away.

Cuddles and Brandy: Cuddles was a brown tabby and Brandy was an orange tabby. Brandy hated my brother and would spend hours chasing him around the house. (We weren't having much luck with friendly animals so far. We didn't have them long though, my stepfather left them in a box in a mall parking lot. I found this out years later, sadly)

Jake: Medium sized mutt, not sure what breeds. My parents got him in the middle of winter and he was absolutely terrified of snow, so they had trouble house training him. He was eventually given away as well to a family in the country who gave him a looong, happy life.

Blacky: Black rabbit...Was a gift for my brother. Which leads to the next thing...

70 rabbits. Had a shed that had breeding rabbits. My parents sold them to the pet stores. They were all clean and cared for...there was just lots of them lol. I can only remember a few names...Buddy and Budette, Lamb Chop, Tarzan and Jane, Thumper...

*We moved to a house that didn't allow pets, so we were pet free for a while. until we moved again*

I got a bunny that I named Beethoven. Had him less than a year before my parents gave him away.

My brother got a ferret for his birthday. Albino named Sally. She was not descented so my mom got tired of the smell and gave her away. Shortly after the new owner contacted us and said Sally passed away from cancer. :(

My brother got 2 budgies as a graduating gift from 6th grade teacher. A blue one named Chip and green one named Dale. Not sure how long we had them but it wasn't too long.

I convinced my parents to get a puppy and it worked. We had a lab/shepherd mix named Warsaw (that was NOT my choice of name lol). Had him for 9 years. He was my best bud. He started getting a lot of health problems when he was around 8, having seizures, cataracts and sores that wouldn't heal. He had to be put down when he was 9.

During the time we had the dog, my stepfather rescued an iguana that was, at the time, about 3 feet long and kept in a 10 gallon aquarium with no heat light and was tormented by small children. He built "Creep", as I named him, a big enclosure and we got him healthy again. We had him for a few months before he was given away while I was gone for the weekend. He was too expensive to feed, according to my parents.

Then I got my first hamster, Stinky. Had him for 3 years, until he died peacefully in his sleep.

Had another hamster after stinky, named Oreo (panda hamster) but he died a few days after I got him. Found him in the cage dead, with his insides hanging out. =/

So I got ANOTHER panda hamster, can't remember what I called it but ended up giving him to a "hamster rescue" that an older lady with mental disabilities ran. He was MEAN, tried to bite me and squealed at me when I went near him. The lady wrote me back a few weeks later to say she had some success in hand taming him.

Then I got Parker and MJ. If any of you read my profile, or my intro post, you'll remember that MJ fell out of a window and ran away. Obviously, I still have Parker.

I had several fish, including a comet that died after 3 days, a molly that died after 2 days, 2 dwarf gourami. One died and I gave the other away. Then I got a pearl gourami. Had him for about a year before he died.

Parker is my only remaining pet...For now.

Lets see.. in my 30 years, I've had in order (I think, lol)

Beaker: Blue parakeet that I have no memory of getting.. maybe I wasn't born yet?

Beasley: Blue parakeet that replaced Beaker when I was about 6?

a pair of fancy parakeets that my sister bred and raised. We had about 20 parakeets flying freely in her bedroom for a while! I don't remember if we named them all. I was about 10?

Random tarantulas: my dad used to bring them home from work and we had them for a few months. I don't remember much of them.

Hamsters: my sister had them, don't remember them, except they had babies and my mom got rid of them quickly!

Bandit: a mutt that we had for about a year before my parents had to rehome.. the dog was untrainable and destroyed everything! I don't remember this dog.. I must've been a toddler

Whiskers: my first pet that was 'mine'. Got her about 5 years old. She was a guinea pig and lived for 7 years, with ear infection and all.

Kokomo: my cockatiel. I had her for about 7 years before she got egg bound, broke inside her and passed away. She was constantly laying eggs and I could never stop her.

Aruba (Ruby): When Kokomo passed away, my dad was upset that I was upset, and he took me to pick out another bird. I chose Aruba, a beautiful lovebird. I had her for about 7 years until I got Monet.. and I could not stand the thought of coming home to nothing but feathers. A friend took Aruba and she's still doing well today!

Kiwi: Quaker Parakeet that belonged to my sister. Very nasty bird that purposely hunted me down to bite me!

Duffy: Shetland Sheep Dog.. got when I was about 11, and he passed away when I was about 20? I was in college. He was the best dog ever!

Kodie: we got him when I was about 18, when my parents thought Duffy was on his last leg. Duffy lived another two years with Kodie's spunk. Kodie passed away 2 months ago :(

Today, I have:

Monet and Cassie, my two beautiful kitties!

Oh Draco, thank you for reminding me, lol. I had a guinea pig between the iguana and my dog. His name was Wilbur. He ended up with some weird bowel disease and had to be put down.

Oi, this is a tough one, here goes:

TB - I have no idea how she came to us but she is the first pet I can remember. She was an indoor/outdoor kitty that produced litter after litter. We finally got her spayed after 4 or 5 litters. She lived to be 18.

Tigger: he wandered up one day while mom was hanging out the laundry. He was super affectionate. Sadly, he died of leukemia he contracted from a stray we had brought in the winter prior.

OE: stood for One Ear as one of his ears had melted away he wandered up one day after having had boiling water or something poured on him. We took him in knowing nothing about leukemia or anything else. We had him humanely euthanized about 6 months later, and that is when we heard about his disease. Then we found out Tigger had gotten it.

Ebbie: I picked her out when she was a week old and brought her to my first apartment in college when she was 8 weeks old. I adored that girl. Beautiful dilute tortie she was. After graduation I took a job traveling most of the time so my sister kept her. She lived to be about 18.

Riley: Still have little man, he's about 15 now and recently diagnosed with CRF. My sister found him as a small kitten on the steps of the school where she taught.

Fred: he's 11 now, a buff tabby. Absolutely wonderful friend. He was rescued from a house that had dead dogs lying about and the animal warden was in route to remove all animals from the property. One of my sister's students lived there and was telling her what was happening so she went over and grabbed him.

Cleo: Amazingly beautiful Ragdoll mix girl we adopted when she was 7. We lost her last year at the age of 13 to Lymphoma. We adopted her from a rescue group where she had been turned in because the other cats in her home beat her up. She had open wounds when we got her. She was my DH's baby.

Bogey: we adopted him when he was 18 from a family that was tired of taking care of him. He lived to be 21. We lost him a few months ago. He was an AWESOME cat. I miss him terribly.

Simon: Simon is about 7 years old. He's a mess. Got him from the same rescue we got Cleo from.

Claire: she is a foster failure. We fostered for the rescue we got Simon and Cleo from and Claire never got over her feral ways. She's 4 now, we've had her since she was 7 weeks old, she's still skittish but does her best. We love her dearly.

Dogs:

Millie: she was a chi/terrier mix my sister and I bought in a pet store when we were still in college. Our entire family took turns with her and she ended up staying with my parents for most of her life. She lived to be 16.

Andy: DH's father found Andy, a daschund mix, when he was out mowing his property. A neighbor claimed him so FIL gave him back. Later that day, he saw Andy being beaten by some kids with sticks and rocks so he pulled over, scared the tar out of the kids, picked up the dog and brought it straight to our house. We had Andy for about 9 years. He died 2 years ago of a spinal cord tumor.

Charlie: lab/hound mix. He's almost 12 now. We adopted him from a local no-kill rescue. He's a great, laid-back, easy going dog. They don't get much better than old' chuck, that's for sure. He's dealing with arthritis and is covered in fatty tumors but he's hanging in there.

Abby: we got Abby about 6 weeks after we lost Andy. We had no intention of getting another dog but Charlie became seriously depressed and we were worried we were losing him. DH found Abby in our local city shelter and she was just what we all needed. She's been a wonderful addition to all of our lives.

Misc:

BJ: she was a guniea pig my sister and her friends rescued from the science lab at their university. The momma guniea pig had babies and they had already fed the momma and the other babies to the snakes before my sister got in there. She brought the baby home and my Dad and I didn't know if we could save her but we did. She was the coolest guniea pig ever. Since we hand raised her she was extremely social, she and our cat Tigger slept in her cage together (we never had to put a lid on her cage and she would squeal and bounce all over Tigger when he would get in the cage with her, then they would settle down and sleep all afternoon. She adored my Dad and when he would get home for work, she would stand on her back legs and squeal until he came and picked her up and gave her the carrot he always had for her. She was 9 years old when she finally had a seizure and passed away. The entire family was heartbroken.

So, in case you lost count, we currently have 4 cats (Riley, Fred, Simon. And Claire) and 2 dogs (Charlie and Abby).

I'm 50 years old and I haven't had that many pets. When I was a kid I wasn't allowed to have a dog or cat because of my Mom's asthma.

When I was a toddler we had a small dog. I don't remember him, but he is in some of the pictures of me when I was about 1 or 2.  I also remember us having a sheppard/wolf mix. He was killed by a truck when I was about 4 or so.   We also had 2 jack rabbits.  None of the animals were "mine."

When I was 11 and 12, I had 2 budgies (different times).  One flew out the door and we couldn't catch him.   We got another and had him for 2 years.  The neighbours cat accidentally got inside and leaped into the air and caught my bird in mid-flight. The bird didn't stand a chance :(  I wasn't home when it happened.

Since I've moved out from home, I've had the following pets:

1. Shadow. An adorable grey DSH. She got her name because she was hiding for days and days and one day she ventured out into the living room and she saw her a shadow of her tail on the wall and she ran for cover. I only had her about 3 months before I had to give her away. I had broken up with my then b/f and moved home, and the poor kitten was terrified of my brother's kids.

2. Gem. A medium hair black persian/burmese mix.  She had gorgeous green eyes that looked like emeralds, and her coat looked like black onyx.  I had her about 6 years. She accidently died. Too horrid for me to talk about :(

3. Toby.  A long black hair persian mix. I got her from a guy who ran an ad in the local paper. She was 10 when I got her.  I had to put her down at 14 due to her Renal Failure.

4. Kira.  A Torti that I got from a strawberry farm when she was about 8 weeks old. I had her for about 3 years and I made the horrid mistake of having her front declawed when she was spayed. It was the most horrid decision I ever made, and I'll never ever ever do it to another cat ever again.  That poor girl was in such pain, and she was peeing everywhere but in her litter box. Plus she became very mean and was attacking and biting.  I relinquished her to the humane society after 2 weeks :( I still feel horrid about that :(

5. Chynna.  My white DSH that adopted me about 4 days after I gave Kira up.  Chynna was with me for over 18 years. She was my soulmate kitty.

6. Abby.  An orange/wite DSH.  She came to live with me on October 10, 1998, when Chynna was 6 years old. Abby was 4 months.  Abby is now 14 years.

7/8. Spencer and Katie.  Twin grey tabbies. They will turn 2 on September 18th.  They came to live with me on January 27, 2011.

I don't think I could list them all, I've had a lot of small pets and I can't remember every name of every fish, hamster, etc... I can name the types of pets I've had though?

I've had:
Fish: many Goldfish, Guppies, a Bluegill, a Koi, Convict Cichlids, Neon tetras, zebra danios, a few Betta, probably some others I'm forgetting.

I've also had pet crayfish.

Amphibians: several Bullfrogs, 4-5 American Toads, 3-4 Leopard Frogs, 4-5 African Clawed Frogs, 4-5 African Dwarf Frogs, a few Golden newts,  a few Fire-bellied newts

Reptiles: A ribbon snake, a few anoles

Rodents: 3 Mice, a Gerbil, many many Syrian hamsters (aka Golden hamsters/Panda/Teddy Bear/Black Bear/etc), 2 Chinese Dwarf Hamsters, 5 Rats, a Guinea Pig.

Other small and furry: 2 Rabbits, 6 Ferrets, and Sugar Gliders (currently own 5 sugar gliders)

Also dogs and cats of course...

Counting my childhood dogs I've had "Spunky" Beagle mix (my grandmother's dog, my family 'inherited' when she passed away), "Tansy" a Cockapoo/Terrier mix, "Ginger" Golden Retriever, "Pooch" Rat Terrier mix, "Sarge" a Lab/Pit Bull mix who I had briefly, and my current dog Bianca a German Shepherd.

I also fostered Shiloh and Tyco two German Shepherds from GSD rescue. I also have fostered a number of other dogs in the past, usually strays I found and took in when I could not find their owners, then trained and got them healthy and found homes for them. Although some of them I had for up to a year before I was able to find good homes... Such as Harley the Shar-Pei (had him for 9 months before I was able to find a home) and Stormy the Shih Tzu. Stormy was dumped in my yard one night during a storm, poor little guy was a matted mess when we discovered him.

As far as cats, our first cat was Sylvia our black cat.

I rescued some stray cats/kittens too when I was a kid... A neighbor had a litter of semi-feral kittens in his yard, one day I caught one of them, a tortie, and brought her home. I named her Autumn. I couldn't keep her though because Sylvia hated other cats with a passion, so a family friend ended up adopting her. Then when I was just starting my first year of high school, a friend of mine brought me three orphaned kittens, who I named Simba, Nala and Christine, and I bottle-raised them and found them homes. Then in high school a neighbor told me there was a box in their alley with kittens in it. I went and checked and someone had put a milk crate with a lid tied onto it next to the garbage cans with 4 kittens inside it! One kitten was missing a foot, but it was thankfully not a wound, looked more like a birth defect. Another neighbor who did rescue helped me find homes for them... I rescued a few more cats/kittens as a teenager including one "teenaged" kitten who I named Kalika who looked just like an Egyptian Mau. I realize how unlikely that is, she was most likely not at all a Mau but she was a very beautiful silver spotted tabby.

Then after Sylvia passed away we got Sneakers the "tuxedo" cat.

After that we were planning on getting a Maine Coon kitten. While waiting for Roxy to be old enough to come home from the breeder, I found my tabby Church as a feral kitten by chance (in my backyard).  Then a year later I rescued a feral litter of 7 kittens who I found nesting in my backyard, who I bottle-fed from 3 weeks old... I had trouble finding homes for them though, and only 3 of them got adopted so I still have four from the litter, Spot, Harlequin, Mr Grey and Blaze. They've just turned 3 years old now...

Okay here's mine. In red are current:

Guinea Pig: Spot. I didn't quite get the idea that animals had to be fed, Mom let me learn the hard way. I was about 8 or 9 years old and developmentally delayed. Poor Spot.

Hamsters: Houdini 1 and Houdini 2. Houdini 1 escaped the cage and was never found. Houdini 2, I have no clue what happened but he died in my hand. I was traumatized for a while lol.

Rats: Charlene and Charlotte. Don't remember which was which, one had a tumor on the leg so we just let it go.

Birds: Peri (perikeet.) Second hand. Talked. Swore. Got a mate in Teri, which stopped him from swearing. Added a canary (never named) into the mix. Birds died when their food container got clogged but my grandmother, who was supposed to be taking care of them while we were on vacation thought it was still full because she saw some in the feeder... it was just not at the bottom. Poor starved birdies.

Dogs: Day Bear. Chow/Keeshond mix. 13th birthday present. Unscrupulous rescue claimed the dog would not cause allergies or shed... the dog had already bounced back to them twice and I think they were hoping to get rid of it. Became an outdoor dog after a week because of mother's allergies. Mobile home park saw a similar chow mix running free in the neighborhood, thought it was ours and made us get rid of it. :(

Alex. Bichon Frise. He's still alive but lives with my mother. 15th birthday present. I haven't been able to see him in almost three years.

Ollie: Bichon/Maltese mix. Originally a puppy mill dog, rescued by Small Paws Rescue. Died in 2007 at the age of 19.

Various foster bichons for Small Paws Rescue.

Cats: Oreo (tamed feral, deceased. Poor kitty didn't really have a chance at life.)

Binky: Oreo's daughter.

Cookie: Binky's son.

Ahh... lessee. Not many happy stories from me unfortunately. :(

Gerbils:
We had three of these. Two were my very first pets, which my parents got me for Christmas when I was five or six: a brown one named Ralph (after the fictional mouse) and a white one named Sugar. The third was a female we got years later, named Rotor. All lived to be happily ancient (in gerbil years) except Sugar, who died unfortunately a little earlier, and whose body was stolen by one of our outdoor cats when we tried to give him a proper burial. Oy. Ralph was probably my favorite because he was so sweet and gentle; he must have been like 120 in gerbil years when he died, but was in great health the whole time. Rotor was very clever, and I swear she would intentionally bang her exercise ball into this one wall in the kitchen to make it break open.

Mice:
One of my mother's old coworkers gave us two, he "thought" they were both female... yeah. I think we had about 20 at one point, but then we separated them so they couldn't breed anymore.

Cats:
The first cat I really knew was Kiehl, our landlord's. She was loaned to us to help take care of the rodent problem in the house we were living in at the time. (It was the stuff of nightmares, that house.) She started flirting with the neighborhood boy cats and got pregnant, had six kittens. Landlord had her spayed and we took the kittens with us when we moved. Two of them, Kit and Teakit, went with my grandma.
The other four were Wishy (a tuxedo with a white wishbone on his nose), Stripe (a handsome whitish cat with stripes), Cow Kitty (black and white patches), and Christy (brown, with a pretty orange face and stripes). The house we moved into had a pretty gray longhair named Annie who pretended to dislike the new kittens, but licked them and brought them dead mice. She was an odd one.
We couldn't have indoor cats back then because my father was allergic (or at least that was the theory), so they had to stay in the barn. Christy wandered off and was hit by a car just a week or two after moving in. Cow Kitty died of infection following a raccoon bite. Stripe was presumably eaten by coyotes. Wishy also vanished.
My grandma later convinced us to adopting two of Kit's kittens, a black one named Trouble and a striped one which I named Crissy after my first cat. Crissy ended up getting hit by a car--unfortunately very much like his namesake--but survived after having most of his tail amputated. Other than that he recovered beautifully, and lived a comparatively long life. He was there up until we moved. Trouble on the other hand vanished early on.
We also managed to capture two black-and-white--the kittens of unneutered strays dumped at our new landlord's dairy farm--and made friends with two local strays. The two black-and-whites were Spunky, who liked riding on my bike with me and thankfully also hung around until we moved, and Patchika, who was put down by the vet because she had some incurable disease. Too young at the time to remember what it was now, but she was definitely suffering so I don't feel it was unwarranted.
The strays were "Scaredy" (a black cat who was very shy of people) and Butch, a very old, scraggly gray tabby who had run away from an abusive owner who used to live across the street years back, and gradually warmed up to us. He looked like he was about ten years old, but he was also there right up until we moved. A very wise cat--would sit down on the edge of the road and deliberately looked one way, then the other, before crossing.
After my parents divorced, my mother and I cat-sat for a friend who was staying out of the country for a few years. He had two cats, a (rather overweight) orange tabby named Daisy and a very pretty Ragdoll named Little Bean. We ended up caring for them for two years. Lots of fun. Little Bean liked to "snark" (hiss/spit, but in an obviously friendly way) when I talked to her. I've never known a cat that would do that but it was hilarious. I found out later that Little Bean died of cancer a few years after she went back to her "daddy"... very sad to hear that. She was such a wonderful cat.
The last three cats I had were Ana, Tohee and Keef. I've already mentioned them and will probably mention them many more times. Too much to say about them than I could sum up in just a few paragraphs.

Dogs:
I've only ever had two dogs. The first was a long-haired, black dog (some kind of water breed I think) that we kept basically for a friend because he couldn't have a dog where he was currently staying, and it was either let her "roam free" on our farm or be shut in a kennel with her own poop for who knows how long. She ended up being a handful... didn't care about coming or listening to people, and liked to chase cats (and even killed one of our chickens), so we tried keeping her in the house with us. Then we learned she liked to get into the garbage, sneak food off the counter and stove top(!), and sneak into my room to eat my plastic toys(!!). She ended up staying in the barn except when my mother could supervise her. Still better than a dog kennel in my opinion. Gave her to a friend who also had a farm when we moved. She ended up chowing a ridiculous amount of cow feed, developed liver disease, and was sent off to a shelter because they couldn't pay the vet bills. Ugh.
Our other dog we had in our last pet-friendly house, when we had Ana, Tohee and Keef. She was a German Shepherd mix named Murphy. A very good dog--one of the few I've known in my life that I would say I really loved. We tried to find a good home for her when we moved, but when my aunt took her to "try out" having her at her home for a few weeks, she decided it wouldn't work out. Didn't bother calling us--just dumped Murph at a shelter. We tried calling but she wouldn't talk to us, and only bothered to tell us what had happened that Christmas, which was months after the fact. :(

Cockatiels:
We had two cockatiels. The first was Stretch. My grandma rescued him from neglective owners at a garage sale, but realized she was really allergic to bird down, and gave him to us. Later we adopted Angel from a friend because she didn't have time for Angel anymore, and her parents insisted on keeping Angel in the garage. Stretch decided to stop being friendly with people after he met her. She bonded with me almost immediately, and screamed for attention all the time. At first Stretch seemed to pick it up, but we later realized he was actually blind in one eye, and couldn't see her. He was too dumb to just turn around so he could look at her with his good eye. We still took good care of them until they died, even though Stretch hated my guts and TBH they drove us both crazy.

Others:
When we still lived on the farm we had a variety of other animals. We had a goat named Lizzie, and took care of sheep for a friend for a while (that was annoying--the fences weren't meant for sheep and their three "teenage" lambs kept escaping). Our landlord also kept several other animals there of his own at various times, including some horses and cows. My absolute favorites, though, were our chickens. We had about twenty, and all of them except maybe five had names--the other five were unnamed only because I couldn't tell them apart. We had two roosters, Long-Legs (who was stunningly gorgeous but very mean) and Papa Peppertail (who was also gorgeous, and very sweet), and various hens, including Bossy (a black and white), Clucker (a friendly Rhode Island Red), Snowflake (all-white--would have been a handsome rooster except someone stole him from us(!)), Sable (a Polish--had a feathery "pom-pom" on his head--possibly also a rooster), and Patches (an "Ameraucauna"). We had some Brahmins (feathery legs), and some Brahmin-Polish crosses which looked extremely cool, but I don't remember what their names were. Naturally we had to give them all up when we moved away from the farm.

And I wouldn't call her a "pet" by any means, but we raised a house sparrow named Aleda from the time her eyes had just opened; basically her parents could see her and hear her, but refused to interact with her, in favor of caring for their other chicks. We helped her learn to forage for food on her own and all that good stuff. Eventually her parents decided they wanted her back and she flew off with them and it was a happy ending for everybody. We were completely in love with her, but she still made a great illustration as to why wild animals should not be kept as pets. Such a little spitfire for such a tiny bird.

Let's see, growing up we had two cats, Mickey and Minnie.  Inside/outside cats, Minnie never came home one day, probably dead, Mickey came home one day with a badly broken leg after that.  We added Daffy (seeing a theme here?) and kept the cats inside.  When I was 11 or so my sister moved out and took the cats with.  A couple years when I was 13-14 we took in Gypsy who was found starving and dumped, then we got Snowball.  When we moved a year or two later we left Snowball with the new owners because the cats didn't get along.  Turned out to be a horrible idea since they became junkies and we have no idea where that cat ended up.  I moved out at 18 took Gypsy with, moved again and then bought my house in 2007,

Starting life "on my own"

Gypsy, still with me (I'm 26 now and she's 14+)

2004 Penalope-anole=died

2005 Paco-un id'd lizards=died

2005 Pierre-iguana=still have

2005 Precious, pet store ferret, died in 2009 from cancers

2005 Hobo, pet store ferret, died in 2010 unknown reason

2005 Ball python from pet store, still have him

2006 Pandora, pet store ferret, still with me

2007 Tweek, rehomed ferret, died a year later in his sleep

2007 Jersey, pit bull that was being rehomed on craigslist, she is 7 now

2008 Craven, Blackie, Koda, my friends ferrets I took in "temporarily", Craven is still here, the other two died in 2010 and 2011

2008 Pip, ferret from humane society, died in 2011 lymphoma

2008 Nero, pit bull adopted from shelter, he is 5-ish now

2011 Ripley, pit bull mix, fostered and then adopted from local shelter, she is 2 years old

Fun topic!

Chico the chihuahua, he was blue & white tuxedo pattern. My parents got him before I was born and he died in 1991. Sometimes he was a bit mean, but we ipdid tease him more than we should have.

Tootsie the chihuahua, 1990-2007, black & white. Tootsie was my favorite dog, we got her from a breeder who had planned to show her but she had a slight underbite that got worse as she aged. But she was soooo sweet, she was like a little princess and very proper for a dog.

Cookie the chihuahua, 1992-2004, tan and black. She was a classic example of why you shouldn't buy an animal from a BYB. She had lots of health problems, I think she also had mental problems bc she never seems to mature from puppyhood. But my mom loved her and she was a great companion.

Willow the shelter kitty, 2001-2012, brown tabby. Willow was my first pet on my own and oh how I love her! She was my little buddy for all her years and I'll nev forget all the love she gave me. I miss her every day.

Gus the shelter kitty, born 2004, grey tabby. Gus is my biiiig boy, he's beautiful, has the most gorgeous green eyes and he's a true lover boy. He's a true people cat, he loves being around us and meeting new people.

Pepper the Abyssinian, born April 2012, ruddy. Pepper is in my avatar. I'm still getting to know her, but she is quite the character. She's so smart and assertive and very outgoing. She loves playing with the kids and is curious about everything we do. Plus what's not to love about a sweet kitten?
