On "walkies" with Baloo this drizzly morning, I took the camera along. I decided I want to know what all these beautiful flowers are!

I knew from my Fall wildflower picture-taking that these are Purple Asters:

The white ones are "Pinnacled Asters":

And these looked like strawberries - but had yellow flowers. Turns out they're Indian Strawberries. :)

The colors on these tiny flowers was just amazing. They're called Veronica (Germander Speedwell)

And I always love the Buttercups!

This is called ground Ivy, Creeping Charlie, or Gill-over-the-ground:

And this beautiful white flower is called Campion or White Cockle. It's Evening Lychnis:

....and, of course, no yard is complete without dandelions! :lol3:

Over the river and through the woods...
How pretty! I love spring with all the flowers, but come the end of June all those pretty flowers will be nothing but weeds in my mind and will be cut down. I actually went out last week and gathered a bouquet of wild flowers just to put color in my house. I don't have a clue what most of them were, but there were pretty for as long as they lasted.

I just had a flashback to college and my class in Plant Taxonomy and the plants and wildflowers we collected and pressed. Just couldn't live without my Peterson Guide.

My only case of poison ivy happened while collecting for this class.

I always called the first two (the asters) Daisy Fleabane.

:clap::clap: OH HOW LOVELY!!!!!!!!!!!! I love wildflowers... BUT BUT Where is a picture of Baloo!!!!!!!!!! :rub: :lol3: OH I just love the Veronica, beautiful deep blue color. Just beautiful. The Buttercups are so pretty too. AND I know all about Creeping Charlie. :sigh:  Our yard has that problem..... I think it makes my neighbor angry because he has a perfectly groomed yard and the Charlie is creeping over his way :lol3: Anyway, wonderful pictures and thanks so much for sharing. Love the last one :bigthumb: reminds of the horses. They LOVE LOVE dandelions, both seedlings and in full bloom. :D

OH! I almost forgot to post this!

If I hadn't been looking at the ground looking for flowers, I would have walked RIGHT into her!!!

I only took the one pic, because I'm sure she was terrified as it is. :heart3:

My word! That IS one well hidden fawn! :heart3:

Oh, see those grasses? They are flowering, too. Oh, and a weed is a wildflower growing where it is not wanted. :lol3:

Isn't it amazing how a brown fawn can disappear in a field of green?

Baloo looks to be one contented cat.  He seems to be posing and saying "I'm ready for my close-up now"

Dang, Laurie! What kind of camera and lens are you using. Those speedwells and chickweed are tiny!

I found out that common speedwell does not press well using usual methods because it's too fragile.

They are tiny! :lol3: And I can see that about the speedwell - it's VERY dainty.

I'm actually using MY PHONE! An HTC Incredible 2. It just has good software, I guess. :dk: Oh yeah - on AUTO. :lol3: I did adjust for the cloudy day the other day. And I do have to take 5 or 6 shots to get a real crisp one.

Got the shot I wanted of the pink knotweed this morning - with a little "bonus." :lol3: (An ant LOL)

And a nice little patch of the Germander speedwell:

OH! And the yellow version of the Garlic Mustard:
