Hi guys,
I was wondering of you all would mind keeping my family (and some extended family) in your thoughts/prayers this week? It's never easy to lose a loved. I think it's even more difficult when it happens around Mother's Day, which is what happened to my brother- in- law this week. My oldest sister Monica has been married to her husband, "Bubba" since I was a little toddler. So, needless to say, I don't really view him as a "brother-in-law", he's just like a brother to me! Bubba has been like a wonderful big brother to me my entire life, and we are all very close. On Thursday, Bubba's mother passed away due to complications from cancer and blood clots. It's been a very tough week on all of them. (Monica and Bubba have 3 girls (My nieces, are close in age to me. Two of my nieces also have children as well, so they are all grieving this week.) Today was the viewing, for Bubba's mom; tomorrow morning they'll have the funeral for her. Since we live a bit away from them (They're in Mississippi and we're in TN), my mom, aunt, and I went today to the viewing today (they can't get off work tomorrow for the funeral.) It really broke my heart to watch a grown man like Bubba break down and cry. I have honestly only seen him cry one other time in my life, and that was during our Nannie's funeral a few years ago. (We were all so close to my grandmother). Bubba is a wonderful brother to me, husband to my sister, and father/grandfather to my nieces and their children. He was even the very first person in the room that I saw when I woke up from my heart procedure over a year ago. Needless to say, all of us wanted to be there for him today and his momma today. I think it was even more heartbreaking that the Viewing was today, on Mother's Day. My sister Monica and their girls seem to be holding up very well thankfully, but Bubba is understandably taking it very hard. If you guys have a moment today, can you all please keep my sister, her husband, and all of their family and extended family in your prayers? And on that note, In addition to celebrating our mommas that are still around (thankful that I still have mine), I also think it's also a good time to remember all of those who have lost their wonderful moms/grandmothers and miss them dearly. It's been such a sad day. :heart3:

:hugs: my thoughts go out to your extended family Niki. It's never easy to lose someone you love, and the timing is particularly awful for Bubba to lose his mom. :(

I'm so sorry to hear this. You, Bubba and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. The timing does suck, but timing is never good for something like this. The 8 yr anniversary of my mom's death is tomorrow, which is also my Grandmother's birthday (who is also gone. But she got my mom back, she was buried on my mom's birthday. Ironic). Today was hard, but in a way it's become almost a comfort having mother's day and everything else so close together. It's not as "raw" now so it actually is healing thinking about Mother's Day and missing them all at the same time. I don't know if that makes any sense, but I hope Bubba and the rest of the family can eventually take comfort in the fact that she passed so close to the day that honors her.

I'm so sorry for your family.  My prayers are with you all.

My Dad , Aunt and Grandma were at a funeral today too.  For a distant cousin I'm not sure I've ever met.  Holidays are supposed to be happy ya know?

Thinking of you and your family sweetie! Sounds like Bubba is a wonderful man, so obviously it would have taken an incredible woman to raise him. Take care...

Starry, you and your whole family are in my prayers. Bubba's Mom must have been a wonderful Mother to raise a man like him. May God comfort all of her loved ones.

I have been feeling very sad myself this mother's day, missing my mom so much.

Thank you everyone for the prayers and kind words for my family; it's very appreciated! For those of you who have lost a loved one, just know that you guys are in my prayers too! :heart2:

The funeral was at 11am this morning (I wasn't able to make it today since I don't live near there, so that's why I went yesterday to the viewing). I texted Bubba a bit today after the funeral to check on him, and he seems to be holding up ok for now. I know it's just going to be a long healing process, but I know my family will all be there for them through it. My sister thinks it's really going to sink in for Bubba in a few days; I tend to agree. He's one of those strong, silent types that tries to hold it in and be strong for his family; I just hope he knows that he can grieve if he needs to and that all of his family and loved ones will be there for him through it; I know my sister and their girls are definitely going to be there for him each day. Please keep Bubba's daddy in your prayers too; he was married to Bubba's momma for such a long time and I can't imagine how difficult this is for him losing his sweetheart. I'm just praying that all of their grief will be eased a little knowing that she is no longer suffering from cancer and all of the pain that wracked her poor body. :heart2:

Thanks again for all of your sweet thoughts and prayers for my family :hugs:

Belated vibes for you and all the family. The fact that you are a large and close family means you will all be able to help each other, but it is always so hard when you lose a parent, someone who knew you as a baby and child, and it brings your own mortality to mind. Many condolences to your BIL and all hte family.
