We adopted a new kitten yesterday and so far she doesn't seem to like the litter box. Might it be the litter? I purchased tidy cats scoopable? I also purchased a hooded litter box. Should I remove the hood? I caught her squatting in a corner and picked her up and she urinted all over the kitchen floor. She's only 8 weeks old so I know she's new and just a baby and adapting and needs time. What's the best way to encourage her to use the litter box?

Use a litter with small granules.  The large ones can hurt little feet.

Next, keep the kitten in a small area, like a bathroom or utility room, with her litter box and food and water.  It's very easy for a kitten, essentially a toddler, to forget where the box is.  Keep her in there most of the time until she gets used to it as "her territory."  Get a box with low sides, so she can get in it easily.

If you think she was outdoors, you can add some regular dirt on top of the litter.  There is also an item at most pet stores called "Cat Attract" which makes the litter box smell more comforting to a cat.  If she poops in the wrong place, put the poop in the box.  Don't be too quick to over-clean the box, so it will have a familiar smell to her.

How's that for some ideas?

Hmm... I think Mrblanche has better answers than I can give. I did use a smaller pan for my 2 when they were kittens.  They also spent their day when we weren't home and at night in a large dog crate.  It was large enough for the small pan, plus their bed, food and water.

Good luck with your kitty!  And welcome to TCS!
