Ok so there has been this BEAUTIFUL cat I have seen wandering around our neighborhood. I tried to catch it a few times but no success. Up until recently I was unaware of gender. Anyhow that had been going on for about 3 months or so. Well 4 days ago I started seeing her (turns out she is a female) CONSTANTLY which started to worry me that maybe she was lost or something. My husband and I finally successfully caught her but I noticed instantly that this little girl looks like she is expecting. I'm completely ignorant when it comes to this subject since my whole life I always had male cats. I have never once owned a female, much less a pregnant female. So the next day (last Thursday) I walked to our mailbox for the mail where my next door neighbor was also was and he claimed that she belonged to a family who suffered a forclosure down the street and they had moved out the previous week! Can you believe that??? It breaks my heart to see this beautiful animal be abandoned. So sad.

Anyways, I am definitely going to take her to the Vet next week as soon as I get paid in 4 days (I have a household of animals that clean out our account very quickly) and already have an appointment for Friday. If she is indeed pregnant I want to take the best care of her possible for her condition. I would like opinons until then if she looks pregnant, how far along in your opinon, what do I need to do....does she look young? I swear she looks like a baby herself to me. Please, any and all info you can offer is welcome. I'll post pics below:

About her age. Right, as she was unspayed and outside going cat, she was doomed to get pregnant. If it took her over two months to be be it, it is an indicium she got adult lately.

On the other side, if you didnt saw her be visibly older these three months, she was not kitten in the beginning either...

Anyway, good you are standing in queue for the vet.  yes, she is prob "in circumstances".  The first question if you want to spay already now if it is possible...  Medically it is possible, and if the vet is experienced surgeon, no difficult at all.

Ethically it is unpleasant, as she is quite far along now.   so you and your vet must decide yourelf, I cant give advice,  I can just mention the possiblility.

Btw, if neglected, she surely has some fleas and prob worms too, I hope you held here somewhere where it is easy to clean up.

You dont have resident animals at this moment?  Good, so you dont need to think about any quarantine...

Keep continue reporting and asking!

Welcome to the Forums!

Good luck!

Regarding her age....I never thought about her aging as she was always so skiddish that I couldnt properly analyze her up close. Now that I see her sitting in front of me and her demeanor, she seems so young. Almost like having a kitten who still plays like a kitten would. But I could be totally off and she could be 3 years old. I've read online though that pregnant females can be more loving and playful so maybe thats the case...?

We do have animals- 4 dogs and a potbelly pig. We have her in our screened in porch with some towels in a box and a cat box along with food and water. I found a site with this recipe for vinager, water, and lemon juice mixed to make a flee killer? I'm not sure if it works but I though I'd try it until I get to a store to buy something. Have you ever heard about that?

Regarding spaying....I guess it all depends on how far along. I am very pro life but if she isnt more then a couple weeks then I would certainly feel that it is more humane to abort rather then add to the homeless cat population. But on the other hand, if she is farther along then that then I'm not sure if I could bring myself to do that to her or myself. Just my opinon of course :)

Oh and yes, we did make the mistake of letting her in for a few minutes. My husband was the one suggesting to get her onto the porch. I guess I'll be doing flee inspections for a while

Don't fuss around with homemade flea killers. Some are toxic, some are just a waste of money. If she's really infested, a bath in blue Dawn dish soap will get rid of the fleas. And a flea comb! Otherwise, wait until you get to the vet and ask which spot-on products are safe for pregnant ladies.

You have a kind heart.  She looks in rough shape.  She is malnourished and hard to tell how far along she is but I would guess at least half way, maybe around 6 weeks.  It is hard to tell without feeling her.  The vet should know, she will also need a dewormer (Droncit or such) and a safe flea topical.  If you keep her isolated on the porch until treated, fleas will probably not be able to spread.  You can use a flea comb to comb her and crunch the fleas you find until the vet check up.  Do not use any store bought pesticide spot on as they are NOT safe during pregnancy.  Only some of the prescription ones are safe.  Also, hold off on vaccinations until kittens are weaned.
