It's been 1 year and 2 months since I rescued Grimmykins when he was an enormous 22lb fat cat. As of today, he is down to 14lbs, 8oz! :woohoo:

I'm so happy, sometimes I never thought I'd get to this point, let alone that he would be such a small cat under there! From what I can tell, he'll be under 12lbs in the end.

He's doing really well on his all-fish diet, no more itching or fur trimming, though he still has yucky ears and I can't figure out why. He's has some urinary infections over the past 6 months, but hopefully those will stay behind us.

The most exciting news of all though, is that he may be starting on a raw diet soon!
I've been experimenting with feeding him rabbit in canned form, and if he continues to do okay, there is a store not too far away from me that sells Nature's Variety Raw. :D It's been very hard to get him to lose any weight recently, and very hard to convince him that one can of food per day is to much too eat, so I'm hoping a raw diet will solve that problem. :)

And then of course, a picture of my new 'skinny' cat

P.s you couldn't ever notice it before, but he tends to have the same 'grouchy face'' as AimerLee's Bowser does. Here's an old pic that shows it better:

Wow he was a really heavy cat. Did he come to you that way? If you don't mind me asking. I am so thankful for you helping me and giving advice for Hobo's weight loss. I don't know if you had read, but I adopted him that way and actually worked where I adopted him from so I know for a fact why he is overweight. Just sad it happened that way.

Congrats to you for Grimalkin's weight loss!

He is very handsome.

Yes, he came to me that way.
He was left at the shelter when his owners divorced, and unfortunately, since he was a black cat with what I affectionately call an 'old man face', he wasn't adopted like the rest of his house mates. Having FIV didn't help his case either.
And after 3 months of sitting in a cage eating food all day, he blew up to 22lbs. I saw him on PetFinder.com and I went to visit him at the shelter and that was it. :)

Here's what he looked like when I first got him:

Wow!  Great job of getting the weight off.  I've got a somewhat chubbo myself.  He's WAS around 15 lbs to start, and we're converting everyone to raw, so he's managed to drop about a pount in the past 3 months, however, he's technically been on a "diet" for almost 9 months.  Didn't lose any weight at all until we started on raw.  (long store)

Anyway, congrats.  Keep up the good work
.  He looks just wonderful, especially compared to that video

Aww he's beautiful! I love the grumpy face. We had a kitty with the same grumpy bear face named Lucky who passed away due to CRF last fall. We currently have an overweight black baby as well and she's down 2Ibs and were hoping to get her down another 2lbs. It takes a lot of work and seeing your Grimalkins looking all lean is sooo encouraging!

All the best Minka!

P.S - I couldn't resist posting a pic of Lucky's grumpy bear face!

Isn't it sad shelter workers or volunteers let this happen?

Hobo was in a cage for six months before I finally rescued him.

I think it is because they feel bad for the animal being in a cage all the time.

He was a BIG boy. You have done wonderfully for him and he looks so much better.

Yes, it is sad that they let that happen. And six months is such a long time, I'd glad you rescued him..
