Hi there I have just taken on a stray cat that's pregnant. My cat has had a litter 9 weeks ago and knew when she was due! However with this cat I'm unsure how far she is!! I have felt the kittens moving inside her but am unsure how long they have been able to be felt moving so I'm guessing she's due either any day or in the next 2 weeks? Or can you feel them before 2 weeks to go? I'm also abit worried as she is a young cat and very skinny apart from her very big belly!! I'm not sure if the kittens are going to come out ok and if she's going to cope well in labour!

You are right, you cant know exactly when they will come. It is a waiting game as almost all here can witness... :)

What she needs is good nutritious food, small portions but often, in the beginning.

Wet food of good quality is perhaps best, it should be most easy digestible.  Otherwise kitten food of good quality is the standard advice.

A vet check up, including deworming etc, is also in order. This way you also come into contact with the vet if you would need emergency advices later on, as she will be his patient.

Her bad shape now is of course a complication and a possible danger. But quite many rescued high preg moms are in such bad conditions. Mostly, if they arent starved into exhaustion, they do make it OK.

Very good you ARE observant, and prepared.

Please, keep on asking, and keep us updated. Pics are also welcome.

Good luck!                *vibes*

Ps. I shall ask a mod to make this your post into an own tread.
