My precious baby Lucas has been on 2.5mg of Prozac daily for 5 days now and we are already seeing a difference in him, he is no longer biting or pulling his hair, and its been only 5 days!  I know we need to wait to see real results, but this is so exciting that I had to show everyone how his skin is improving, now I feel stupid for not giving him the prozac earlier, but as a responsible mom I had to try other things first.

Here are pics of the first five days of Lucas taking prozac, do you see an improvement? I do:)

Hi Laurie!  Isn't this great?  I don't want to get over excited to be dissapointed again, but I think we are on the right track with Lucas.  I think that he has done a lot better  and it's been only  5 days. Did you see how awful he was ?  He lost so much hair by pulling it, my poor guy!

Thank you so much for the vibes Laurie, we need them.

Thank you, i know it is heartbreaking to see how sick my baby has been, he has been mutilating himself.  I didn't want to share pics of him looking like this, but since i see an improvement, i had to share. Thanks so much for the vibes;)

Oh my goodness he looks like as totally new kittie! Yay
I'm so glad the prozac is working for him, poor baby!
And glad to have read that flaqui (excuse my spelling)
Is home safe with you, vibes to all of you! And I'm glad that
You tried other things before just going with the prozac, it's
Always better to try natural or safer alternatives, good luck
Hope to see more photo updates! :vibes: :vibes:

Thank you so much! I'm a very happy Mom right now, well Im cautiously happy if that makes any sense, I've been dissapointed so many times, but I want to be positive.  I'm hoping Lucas can get all better soon, he has suffered for so long and I've been trying so many things avoiding the prozac.

I'm also so happy about my girl Flaqui, she is sooo happy, she has changed so much that I hardly recognize her.  I can't wait to take her to the vet to have her checked on Monday.  I hope she behaves, she can be a handful at the vet.

Thank you all for your kind words, I will keep updating Lucas's progress.

Trust me from what I'm seeing in these pictures I have good vibes :vibes:
But do keep positive tammy with your love and our prayers he'll be better
In no time!!! And I'm glad you waited to go through with the prozac
Some people just jump to un necessary medications when something
Natural or a cream could work better, so I'm v very proud that you made
Such a hard decision, your babies should be so glad to have such a great mom!!!

As for flaqui, for the vets sake and yours I hope that she does behave :D

Thank you so much!  He is eating more now, but he is a little lethargic and that worries me a little, but its been only 7 days, I hope he goes back to normal soon. But I'm really happy because his skin is looking so much better.

Update!  Lucas on prozac, day 9.  Now Lucas is eating normally and drinking good amounts of water,so no worries there.  I was afraid because he had lost his appetite.  He is doing so much better, I mean, his hair is growing back and the skin is healing.  The only problem is that he is sleeping too much and he is not active at all.  He needs to excercise.  I think if he continues to improve the vet will lower the dose of prozac in a month and I'm also hoping to lower his dose of prednisolone soon too .

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Tammy, he looks sooooooooo much better!   : hugs: :rub:

I'm assuming the sleeping is a side-effect of the prozac. I've already mentioned this, but when we put Spooky on elavil (amytriptaline) back in ... 2004 for a few months, she slept a LOT the first three weeks. Honestly, I would try not to worry about this, his body is adjusting. And he could really use the rest while his body heals. :heart2:

Thank you so much Laurie, that really makes me worry less, and is like you say, he can use the rest, he has suffered a lot. I'm soooo happy and relieved!  I hope soon I can take Lucas outside for his nocturnal walks, he loves to go outside at night ( he can't be exposed to the sun anyways).  But he lovess to walk with his harness on around the yard. He is so good at it, he walks like a doggie haha.    I did it two times since we moved, but he was so sick I stopped taking him for walks.

Gosh, he looks SO much better!  And I'm sure he'll get used to the medication and start sleeping less, poor guy.  Here's hoping he can resume his nightly walks very soon

Thank you!  He is still a very sleepy boy, but he is doing so much better!  ANd the best thing happened this morning, he started purring again!! He had  stopped purring since he started the prozac and I missed that so much, because Lucas is one of those kitties that purr very loud, you can hear him from a distance, I'm so glad he is doing that again.  Thant means he is happy:) If he is happy, I'm happy!

OH TAMMY!!!!!!!! Just saw this!!!! I am so happy to see that he is improving so quickly on the Prozac. MY goodness, the stress these kitties go through. Pipsqueak doesn't have skin issues with stress but it comes out in other ways. I am considering doing another round of anti-anxiety meds with him too. It does make them a bit more dull though :sigh: You just have to find the lowest possible dose and still have improvement. I am just SOOOOOOOOO glad for you, sweetie, that Lucas is feeling better. OMgosh - look at how his hair is growing back so fast :wow: :heart3: :clap::clap::clap:

Hi Lauren! I'm so glad  you were able to see how Lucas has improved, i wish I had tried prozac before, he really needed this.  He is doing so much better!  Yes, it is crazy how stress can cause such things in our kitties, in Lucas it really looked like an allergy because he scratched all the time, and now with prozac, no rash! It is amazing.  If is also amazing how our minds work, I was sure the food was causing the problems, I thought he was allergic to chicken and turkey, when he was just stressed.

I hope your baby Pipsqueak can get better also, I will keep him in my prayers>

Hugs, Tammy
