Okay so its 6am here where i live right now and for the past 5 and a half hours my pregnant cat Izzie has been extremely restless (very unlike her pregnant self) and she has not stopped doing this scratchy meowing (she usually doesnt make a sound). I havent seen any mucus plug or anything but the meowing and the restlessness seems to be getting worse. She is about 68-69 days pregnant today. How long do these symptoms last before the actual labor and contractions start usually?? Im a first timer at all this so any advice will be appreciated!!

Im sorry nobody responded but i cannot help ya but maybe bump the thread up a bit. My cat was 'talking' a lot and trying to get our attention just before her labor started. She did that for a few hours & my husband woke me up thinking she was in labor. Well he decided she wasnt but as soon as he left to take our sons to school she came up, bit me, and rolled over. there was a sac.

i hope, if she is ready & hasnt already, that she delievers soon!

Just like with humans, labor for cats can be very variable.  It will depend a lot on whether the cat has had kittens before, but the size of the kittens, the size of the mother, and other factors all make predicting impossible.

So, how's your mama kitty doing now?

thanks for the responses! Im probably just freaking out but since this is my first time with a pregnant cat, I just dont know what to expect! Shes panting a lot harder now but has become more still... Shes just laying at my feet and is moving a lot less... only getting up when i move (shes following me everywhere, including the bathroom [sorry if thats TMI] but shes definitley not wanting to leave my side)... Im just anxiously waiting.. Im trying to stay calm and just love on her because she is eating up the affection but Im just so excited for them to get here! Ill be keeping everyone posted!

Okay so her water broke at 1:40pm today and we now have 4 baby kittens!! 2 Black and Whites like their momma and 2 solid soft gray ones! So adorable! Everything went very well. Number 1 and 2 came very quickly then there was about an hour break and number 3 and 4 came soon after. Both the 3rd and 4th ones were born breach so i think that might be why they had such a long break but everyones happy and healthy now!! thanks for everyones posts! I will update pictures after the weekend!!
