Okay, is it because the majority of members on this site are women, nobody watched, or it just didn't matter..

But what'd ya'll think of the opening act at the VMA's?

Madonna, Britney & Christina........

I'm surprised that no one has commented..

You mean the 40-something woman kissing the two 20-something women? Meh - whatever. It was all about the publicity that MTV, Madonna (whose career is big time waning!), Britney and Christina would get. Obviously that's working.

I don't watch MTV. I find the whole channel boring and uninteresting. I saw the footage of the kisses on the evening news.

Based on the entertainment clips that were being presented throughout the network. I didn't watch it this time, and now I am glad I passed.

I thought it was pretty funny! The expression on Justin Timberlake's face was the funny part. Leave it to Madonna to do something like that, but you gotta give her credit for being 45 years old and still looks like she is 20 something. Christina Aguilera could be nominated 'slut of the year' if you ask me .... and Brittney Spears is close behind her.

I personally loved it. I've been a huge Madonna fan since I was kid. And she was always pushing the envelope, I remember my mom not letting me listen to get or watch her videos as a kid because they were "dirty". As for Britney Spears and Christina Augilera, I don't like their music. But from a music standpoint Christina Augilera has a great voice, very full and rich. I enjoyed hearing her sing a Madonna song. And then they brought Missy Elliott out which I loved. Missy Elliott is amazing, especially seeing her on a stage with three live barbie dolls. Missy is a large african american women, now there have been other rappers like Missy before. But Missy fought her way up into pop culture, showing that it's ok to not look like a barbie doll. As for the kiss I don't see what the big deal is at all. It's not like there has never been a kiss before on tv. But because it's girls it's all of a sudden bad and dirty. The scence lasted less than 5 seconds and during half of it the camera was on Justin Timberlake. I've seen a lot worse on national television.

I don't have cable, so I didn't see it, but I saw the photograph of Madonna kissing Christina. I know Madonna has been known to swing both ways, or at least she has created a public image as someone who is free enough to go both ways, but I think most of it is all hype. Madonna likes to shock people.

To quote Heidi, meh-whatever. I do admire Madonna for pushing the envelope, but recently she's seemed a bit...frantic about it. Her movie tanked and her CD didn't do as well as expected. As for Brittany and Christina-don't like their music, don't listen to it, could care less. MTV no longer appeals to me, I'd much rather watch VH1.

I personally wasn't bothered by the actions, but I was bothered with the thought that it was only done for the shock & awe treatment. It's so sad that they have to exploit themselves just for a few ratings.

There will be an increase of female singers and women who are clothed but not in reality and perversion will occur more and more to the point that it is common. Every year VMA has women kissing, has become the fad. Would we freak out more if it were two men, say Justin Timberlake and P. Diddy? I think I'm more digusted that women of today in music, showbusiness are selling their bodies, however artificial they may be, instead of their talents, their real talent, if they have any.

Missy Elliot is my favorite, not only for being who she is, but not following the 'sex-crazed' idealogies and images and peer pressure that others are following. You can express yourself but not to the point that we the viewers can see the toilet paper still stuck to your rear. Have some class, some dignity and brains, for crying out loud.

I agree. I saw a picture of her in some fashion magaizine, with no makeup, piercings and wearing normal clothing. She's a beautiful woman, but with all the hair and makeup-not appealing.

I watched the show...but missed the first of it and I'm glad....I don't need to see a bunch of women making out on an awards show any more than I need to see a man and a woman making out on an awards show. It's an awards show...not a movie....why do we need making out from any sex??????? I used to be a huge Madonna fan back in the days she first started...the 80's....now....I think she is just trying to see how far she can push things and shock us, more than being interested in making decent music to listen to like she used to.

I'm not trying to argue or anything here, but maybe you don't really remember Madonna in the 80s. She wasn't any different in the 80s then she is today, just what she did back then seem more normal now. But she was very shocking with some of the things she did back in the 80s. Everything from her "sexy" outfits which were considered slutty then but not so much anymore, to her videos that were too sexy for MTV, to her lyrics which my mother claimed were dirty and I was too young to hear them. Back in the 80s Madonna definatly pushed the envelope and did some shocking things. Musicians are always pushing the limits, but because we are young when we listen to them we tend not to see it that way.

Its Hollywood guys. We are here talking about it right now, so it worked for them!! They want to get people talking, its free publicity for them, and they are geniuses because everyone is talking about it. Including TCS members! LOL

Personally, it doesn't bother me. There have been things worse in this world other than Madonna kissing Brittany Spears and Christina! What is the big deal? Its not one at all, its two women making out...happens all the time.

And Debby, back in the 80's, Madonna was just as raunchy as now. Her "like a virgin" was pretty much pushing the envelope back then, and did you ever see her documentary that she filmed? I can't remember the name of it at this moment, but it was just about rated X...I saw it in the early early 90's and was shocked.


Moving this to IMO......I think its more of a debate rather than light hearted chatter!

I didn't say it was a big deal, or that I hadn't seen worse things in the world....just that I'm glad I missed it...I don't watch awards shows to see people kissing, no matter what their sex, especially if it is done for shock value...which you know it was.

And...yes...Madonna pushed the envelope and shocked us some back in the 80's.....I agree....didn't say she didn't....but back then she also made decent music and was more interested in that than in the shock value itself. That's why she was so popular back then...not because of her "shock value" but because her music was so awesome to listen to!! I loved her back then. You don't hear so much about her as a musician, and her talented singing....only about her latest shocking video. etc. That 's why she is fading...IMO.

Personally, I did not watch it as I don't have MTV. I did see a clip (someone used it as their LiveJournal Icon) and I think its just a thing to get Madonna back in the Public's eye. *shrugs* She's falling and looking for a way back up.
