So ME..the cat trapper expert made a big mistake. The back of our property backs up to a green belt. Some months ago..maybe January a skinny grey feral cat showed up in our yard. My husband said he saw it trying to eat the bird seed we put out. Since we are huge cat lovers we fed it. Eventually it's coat got very glossy looking..At night we would hear our indoor cats and this cat fighting through the glass of the sliding door. It was so agressive we assumed it was a male. About a month ago my husband though Hobo looked fat..that's what we named it..Hobo. We did try several times to trap it..I saw Hobo yesterday and got a sinking feeling he is a SHE. This morning..NO Hobo..it is always out there waiting for breakfast. I was gone all day trapping and came home..I saw a flash and thought it was Hobo..when I got to the back of our property where the shed is..she rushed me..came very close to me and hissed and then went back under the shed...Apparently she has had her babies under the shed..lol. So I get the ding a ling award.

Ah, you are not the first cat owner who discover their  Simon is really a Simona, with the extra addition of a number of kittens as an unvoluntary bonus.     :)

Females can also be very protective of their revire, Not your residents fault Ms  Hobo felts your place is also her place.

Good luck!

My boyfriend had his cat for months before he found out "she" was really a he! (Before we met.) One day he got completely grossed out noticing a protrusion, if you know what I mean.
Good luck to...Hobette? and her babies!

Yes..we were sorta happy this cat picked our home to eat at. She has been very safe and it has been rewarding watching her coat get glossy and to know she is safe and well fed. We will get the kittens when they start coming out and Hobo will get neutered and live in our back yard

It was so weird but the second night the cat came out from under the shed and came right over to me and seemed to want me to pet her. So I did and she liked it for about 5 seconds..then she struck at me and went back under the shed. Since then she will not get close. I think it was some weird hormone trip..

OH yes, the mother's can be very manipulative that way. She does not sound truly feral though. She was trying to tell you to stay away. AND you are not a ding a ling :lol3: I had the same thing here. Except I thought it was a "she" when it ended up a "he". Good luck with her and the kittens. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

We were gone for a week and the neighbor fed this cat. He sent me a picture of her sitting on his lap in the backyard..lol. She is not feral at all. We are going to have to try and get the kittens soon and rehome this feral kitty..lol

Well the babies have started wobbling out from under the shed. 3 black and one Tuxedo kitty. Mama has become rather tame letting us pet her. She is eating us out of house and home. Good grief. Poor kitty.

Awe tooo cute! Love little fluff balls without tails, or with stubby little tails. What a surprise to you to find two more! You're doing a wonderful thing taking care of them all.

Nope..not Stubby..Bear. He looks like a little Bear. Oh what a week I have had. Today the kittens turned 5 weeks old! The tuxedo kitty is a hoot. The paws are exact on each foot..and it pounces out to play and it's like the feet say "TA DA".  I have never had a litter of kittens so I sure am enjoying these babies. The personalities are all different. Bear is a lunk..fearless and into everything..he beats the crap out of his siblings. One kitty whines all the time. One is very shy. All different. I tried to get all of them in a carrier with Mama but Mama hated it. So what I have done is put the kittens in a large box they can't get out of in my shed. Mama hangs out and goes in to feed them at night. Twice a day I bring them out and they play..while Mama and I keep an eye on them of course! Another week and they will go in for worming and shots. My friend who does rescue is going to show me how to do an adoption event. I want to pick the people who are getting my babies. I am going to lose it. I love them all!

AWWWW Bear :rub: AND of course, you are going to lose it, and already love them so. :heart3: The first foster litter is the hardest. BUT this is part of what you are going to be dealing with, the emotions and the letting go. You will feel SOOOOOO good when they all go to loving new forever homes. Your doing a wonderful thing for these babies and any others that come to you in the future. Great job!!!!!!!!!!!:clap::clap: They all sound just too cute. Pictures :pix: if you can :D

OMG..I went to check the babies tonight..and there was a dead bird in there. Mama had caught it and given it to them to eat! They are getting baby kibble and wet food..but I guess her instinct is so strong to hunt and feed them.

Just an update. Mama kitty was neutered today and she was negative for cat diseases..I was worried about that since she was a stray. Three of the babies are off to the rescue tomorrow to be rehomed. I will miss them!
