Hi there!

Thank you for the welcome. We live in Oregon and I am happy to be in the company of the kind and caring people on this site. Once I get going here I will post some pictures of our kittys. I care for 2 colonys with my husband. We have several house kittys that were rescues that we were unable to place. With the help of the Salem Friends of Felines and The Feral Cat Coalition, we were able to place 16 kittens at Pet Smart.

We believe in the TNR policy and try to keep every cat that comes to eat included. It is sad that I am seeing people move out and abandon their cats. So as many of you, as they show up we do what we can for them. We relocate when possible and alway TNR.

Our local veterinarian has been very helpful in treating the injured or sick kitties and making it possible to afford flea medicine, antibiotics and eye treatments. Like you, we get by.

We have a non profit corporation for the protection of our kittys and I look forward to having someone to communitcate with especially as taking care of feral kittys can become quite overwhelming. But I feel that if we don't do it, who will?

When we thought we were going to have to move, my biggest fear was, "What about the cats?" We are raising our 3 grandchildren and of course they are my first concern but I knew they would be safe! Anyway, we were able to stay and I look into the kittys eyes every day and feel good about it! Several of them live at the local mill and have a really good life! They sleep in my husbands shop during the winter and he keeps a fire for them. (cut a hole in the shop wall for them to come and go) He's pretty sweet like that.

The other colony sleeps under our small business and the back porch. Some say it deters customers, oh well. (small family business with my son and daughter,we sell hardwood) bestbuysflooring.com

But the cats need us, and really, don't we need them? We also have our dogs, I'm really a dog person, go figure, and chickens, hamsters and 2 baby ducks that we will free this summer.

Recently, one of our cats, Blue, brought me a little blueish grey rabbit. I awoke to its squeals on my kitchen cabinet. It was amazingly unharmed and we were able to take it to Turtle Ridge in Salem Oregon where they raised it!

I look forward to meeting everyone, thank you for having me.

Pam

Hi Pam and welcome to TCS! :wavey:
That's wonderful that you're able to look after those colonies. They need all the help they can get, that's for sure.
I'm glad the little bunny survived it's ordeal!
