Worried After My Cat Eating a Rubber Band

On Saturday night my cat seemed to have eaten a rubber band, I only noticed when she started throwing up and I found pieces of it in her throw up. I investigated and found the band, it was one of those big ones, and she had chewed off about a quarter of it and chewed up her piece (how she managed that, I don't know...) So she continued to throw up, until she did her business in her litter box, after that she stopped and seemed completely normal again. Her poop (the softer part of it) had little specks of rubber band (from what I could see) and I supposed she had gotten rid of the rest of it. Today on Sunday, she seems completely normal, doing her normal cat things, grooming, playing around, napping, and so on. But she hasn't pooped today yet either... So, I posted this because I'm worried for my kitty... I may be over reacting, because she did poop at 2:00 last night and that may count for today's, since my cat only goes to the box to do her business about once or twice a day. Or should I be worried and take her to the vet for x-rays?

Oh, and I forgot to add that her appetite is completely normal. Eating her food, going crazy over her treats, ignoring her water bowl and drinking out of the plant vase, just her normal appetite.

Boy do most of us know this worry! One of my cats likes to eat the strings on interactive wand toys. I keep them out of the way now, and didn't have an incident for NINE YEARS.... until a few months ago, when I left one down for a few minutes, and came back to find about a foot of string eaten off of it. :thud: I checked poop of the most likely kitty - and never found that string. That's what happened nine years ago too. :lol3:

Sounds like your kitty chewed it up, got it up, and pooped it out. When you need to worry is if it wasn't chewed up, and gets stuck or wrapped in the bowels. This would cause the kitty to act unwell - and definitely not want to eat. So if your kitty is acting normal and is hungry and eating and drinking... I'd just keep an eye on her. If there's more vomiting and she stops eating, then I'd get her to the vet. But it sure sounds like the worst is behind you! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Can you just make a quick call to the vet and tell them what happened? This way if anything does happen (heaven forbid) they'll get her in quickly and they can also tell you if you still need to worry or not. I don't believe you do, but it's better to be safe then sorry. Just a phone call to them.

Ok, I guessed that for myself since she seems all well today, but I wanted to be sure. She used the litterbox again last night after I posted this, today I cleaned her box and there was some rubber band but not as much. I think her body is just going to pass it. She hasn't thrown up since Saturday night, so I don't think she will be throwing up anymore, thankfully. Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it, I needed something to reasure myself, lol.
