Hello I am in northern california taking care of a colony of 9 cats. I have grown close to one in particular and was hoping someone on the site could help me identify it with a picture. Please leave a comment saying what type of cat/mix of cat she is, oh and by the way I already TNR her.

Thanks!

If she is big, you could perhaps say a Maine Coon resemblance.  If a quite average posture for female cat, you shall have to contend calling her for long haired domestic.  Which she of course is EVEN  if you manage to decide she is somewhat look alike a MCO...

Tx for helping them!

Will you try to bring her in and foster to be one of your home cats?

Good luck!   *vibes*

I have reason to believe she has some Short hair domestic because most of the colony is. But since she is unique compared to the others I think she has some other traces in her from another type of cat. Oh and by the way she is about 2 and a half years old.  I would LOVE to bring her into my house as a domestic cat but Im afraid due to allergies of a roommate she cannot be a full inside cat...is there anyway I could train her to be a inside/outside cat (mostly outside)? Oh and she is very small in body size,

Thanks!

Not so few cat owners are allergic to cats.  Some do get used to their own cats, but most must use tricks to make it possible to live with their beloved cats.  Thus, there ARE tricks.

ps. if the allergy is a severe "suffocating allergia" it is an exception, I advise against; IF you insist you must test on your own responsibility - the suffocating attacks allergia are not to play with, people had died from them

Do have always allergia medications at hand, easy visible for the allergic person and company. When the attack comes, it is hurry AND often chaotic with full panic.  Have them prescribed beforehand.

Bathing the cat now and then (schampoo not necessary) is very effective. Best is if the cat likes to swim.   :)  .  Swip the cat down with a damp cloth everyday is also a nice trick, for example if a allergic friend is just coming to visit you.

An air cleaner with good quality filter and or a air damper are useful.  Avoid dust! hoover cleaner with hepa-filter, but preferably use a damp cloth.  cat sand shall be dust free.

Dont smoke. Drink much water or tea. Live healthy...

Dont have the cat in the bedroom (which is perhaps the greatest sacrifice of a cat loving allergic cat owner...).  If you  pet the cat, wash the hands afterwards, NOT putting them into eyes, nostrils or mouth.

Etcetera.

What a cutie. OH I LOVE her face. I think it looks similar to a Norwegian Forest Cat. I do hope you will be able to take in this kitty. In the beginning she would have to be confined indoors only so she learns to trust you first before you were to let her back outside. There would be no guarantee that she would stick around. Being a feral cat, she might just take off to find her "old" territory. Indoors only is safer for these kitties. Either way - I do hope you can help this lovely cat. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I live trapped a feral cat that looks very similar to yours.  I'm really cirious what she is too. She's only 7.8 pounds and tiny in stature also.  She's so cute! She sleeps right next to me and snuggles with me all night but during the day when I'm up and about she runs! Hope you find some info on her!  Here's my Baby....she's about 1 year old.

I have no idea where or how she was born.  I feed feral kitties on the picnic table on my deck. The first one I caught was a big male namedTiger. He had a degloved tail so It was a must he be caught and taken to theVet.  Baby lived in my dog house in the back yard. I put towels and hay in it for her to keep her warm last winter. But then she came into heat and started to attract every loose male in the nieghborhood, so I live trapped her and took her to the Vet to be spayed.  They ended up having to shave a big portion of her body becaused she was so badly matted, so I couldn't put her out into the cold that way.  By that time I had decided to socialize Tiger and I had partially socialized him.  So I put them in together.  I had them in my spare bedroom. I took the bedframe off the bed so they couldn't hide under it, and rearranged the room so there were no more hidey spaces. Then I picked up a couple of apple boxes and put a hole in each so they had there own safe places. I put soothing music on a loop in my recorder so it played all the time.  I went in the room at least twice a day with a small amount of good stinky canned cat food, anything fishy worked the best, and layed down on the floor and tryed to intice Tiger.  I bought a small fishing pole toy. He wouldn't play at first, he was pretty scared. Oh and one important thing....don't look them in the eye! It,s threatening to them. Look at the tip of thier ears or over the top of thier heads. He finally started playing with the toy.  I would use the pole kind of like an extension of my hand and pet him with it. After a month and a lot of frustrating set backs he finally let me pet him!  But I was always laying on the floor talking soothingly to him. It takes a lot of patience! Ask everyone else on this board, they helped me through it! If it wasen't for them, I probably wouldn't have succeeded.  Now Tiger follows me around the house like a shadow!  And he sits in my lap, loves to be petted, sleeps with me. He's still afraid of my husband but thats coming around slowly too.  Baby is just watching everything that is going on with Tiger.  They both have full run of the house now.  Baby cuddles with me at night and lets me pet and scratch her, she loves it!  As long as I'm laying down.  The minute I stand up she's gone!  But she'll come around.  After this long book I wrote here, go to my thread "Socializing a feral cat".  My whole expierence is on there!  Good luck! If I can do it, I know you can!!  Keep me posted how you're doing.
