I'm just glad that I could do something for her.  I see too many pets in this area that are treated as disposable.  It makes me want to take some of these semi-humans, break a leg and an arm :bat: and throw them out in the middle of the Interstate.  However, that would bring me down to their level.

Please remember my RB cats.     Bear, Psy, Patches and Bright Eyes
Hello :hugs:! Just read this thread... awwwww baby Silly is incredibly strong and once that eye heals completely, she will be better than ever. I am sorry she is going through this but glad to hear that her eye is not weeping anymore and she is resting on the porch :bigthumb: I know how you feel about some people or shall we call them monsters :dk: mutants...... half-human....... I get so angry as well seeing the abuse and neglect of cats :bat: All we can do is step up and do something for the cats. That is what brings me peace. But my heart still aches for all of the ones we can't save or get help for. :sniffle:

For you RB babies: :rbheart: Bear, Psy, Patches and Bright Eyes :rbheart:

p.s. Laurie's Flowerbelle is a good example of how much better the quality of life is once that bad eye is surgically removed and completely healed. AW Flowerbelle - she is one of my many favorite TCS babies :rub: :heart3:

Thank you for the post.  Yes, she is a strong cat.  She showed up one day in 2000 with several kittens and spent the next 4 1/2 years as an outdoor cat.  I caught her going into heat once and brought her inside and she has been an indoor cat ever since.   At the time, I had no resources for spay, so bringing her inside solved the problem.

How could anybody not love Flowerbelle?  That face would turn stone to mush.

Update.  Today after I came in from checking the mail, she came from under the bed trilling like mad at me.  Her eye is looking properly like a winky eye.  She will probably get the cone off next Wednesday.  I know she can hardly wait.

She has managed to groom the last 2/3 of her tail today.

Yep, I am.   Mike and I were talking about the long stitches on Flowerbelle.  Is that the usual way?  Silly's were so small, but she also had two staples in the outside corner.

I see that the long stitches were just the ends.  OOPS

This %(*)(*& feline is driving me crazy.!  Up  Down  Want belly rub,  want chin skritch, wanna stick this cone in YOUR face,  wanna lick your eyebrows.  Isn't it great?
I will call the vet tomorrow, if she doesn't call me sometime today, to get her de-coned.

De-coning tomorrow.  She spent all day inside today, I had to go shopping and won't open the door when I am not here.  I don't trust the neighbor brats.

I really hope so.  She deserves a break after 3 1/2 weeks with a radar dish on her head.

She did not get the cone off today.  There was a small spot that hasn't completely healed, probably where she scratched herself the first night after the surgery.  No more antibiotics, though.  The vet said just to be sure to leave her coned for another week.  Silly loves to scratch and it is safer to not let her get at that spot.  If it has not completely healed next week, the vet will lightly sedate her and put a stitch in that one spot.  The spot is about the size of a standard pencil lead.

Oh, I'm so disappointed for both of you!
Oh silly Silly! If only she understood......
I think she does in her limited way.  When the vet was messing around with her eye today, Silly just laid there on the exam table and never fussed one bit.  Hey, I give my doctor more trouble than that.

Sorry no updates recently.  She has an appointment on Tuesday the 5th.  She is still being her lovably irritating self.  When I am reading, she is stretched out in front of my Nook, trying to block my view.  She managed to pull her cone off the other day, so I shortened the harness a little bit.  She is still able to get at food and water bowls.

hi, im new to this site - but im an eye nurse and after the eye being eneucleated you would expect discharge,  only to worry if there was any other signs of infection - heat from the site, undue redness, swelling and calico seeming fevered.  sound like its all part of the healing process

Greetings, lauraanne
Yes, she did have some infection, but that has all cleared up now.   LDG, I will be more happy for the Tri-Toned Tilly Twit than for me when the cone comes off.

Silly is at the vet's office right now.  They are going to put a stitch in the one place that never healed together and make the eyelids so they don't look so sunken.  The vet said she was doing great other than that one spot.  She will be home tomorrow, probably with the cone still on.  Oh well, she has had it on for 5 weeks now so another one won't be too bad.

Just got back from the vet a little while ago.  It looks like she (the vet) had to do some of the surgery over.  Silly has new stitches, but doesn't have the cone on anymore.  However, if she starts scratching at that eye I'm going to have to cone her myself.  As soon as I opened the carrier, she first ran to the food bowl, then the water, then wanted to get skritches and cuddles.
Right now, she is on the back porch soaking up the sun with the rest of the sun sharks.

Oh Silly, please don't scratch at your eye! Coneless is so much better!!!!!!

I'm sorry it needed more work. :( But hopefully she'll do well without the cone. :cross: And :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: it heals up right this time!
