Sorry about no updates.  I took Silly to the vet yesterday and got her eye cleaned and checked to see if she was having any bladder problems.  She didn't like the cleaning, but put up with it.  Everything turned out OK and I learned that I can be more aggressive in cleaning the eye.  She still has an appointment on the 16th to have the stitches and staples out.

How's Silly doing?????????????? :cross: :vibes:

...and yes, I love that picture of Flowerbelle too! :lol3: Thanks. It doesn't capture the "haughty princess" very well, but it sure does capture the 9-year old "kitten." :lol3:

She seems to have healed up.  The eye is not seeping any more.  Last night I couldn't keep her face out of my spaghetti, so I had to give her little bits of the meat and some noodles. Vet visit Wednesday.

Back from the vet.  She took the staples and stitches out, but left the cone on.  It looks like one of the other cats (probably Sugar the Grabber) might have taken a swipe at her.  She put Silly on a different kind of antibiotics, and hopefully that will finish clearing everything up.  I know some cats that are in for a fresh nail trim.

Not a very good picture.   The raw looking areas are where the vet trimmed all the fur off to get all the matted fur out.  It looks lots worse that it is.  The head on the side is Julie aka Mrs. Kravits.

Aw, poor Silly!

I don't know what the difference would be - maybe that Flowerbelle was a kitten when it was done so she healed up quickly? But I don't remember having any of those issues. I'll go look back through pictures and see....

So the vet was happy with her progress in healing??? :cross:

OK. I just looked up my old threads. I didn't log her progress, I only wrote about the decision to have her eye out. Her surgery was March 19, 2004.

This was taken the next day.

And this was taken April 3, so two weeks later:

I don't know if the difference would be accounted for by age, how the surgery was performed, or ongoing issues with infection - perhaps all of them. :dk:

But this was her eye the day before the surgery:

I think part of it was the infections she had been having for a year or so.  They would always clear up after several days or so it seemed.  Another factor is that the day before the surgery, she had pulled the lens out of that eye.  But the biggest factor is she can't keep that back foot out of anything that itches.

The vet told me that while she was coming out of the anesthesia, she had managed to untie several stitches and they had to be re-tied.  Then she pulled the cone off the first night.

I am happy that she seems to be improving, even slowly.  If I have to baby her for a while, so be it.   She is worth it.

I'm just glad that I could do something for her.  I see too many pets in this area that are treated as disposable.  It makes me want to take some of these semi-humans, break a leg and an arm
and throw them out in the middle of the Interstate.  However, that would bring me down to their level.

Please remember my RB cats.     Bear, Psy, Patches and Bright Eyes

Aww................

We're new enough to kitties that are oldest are 10 this year, and the only ones we've lost were when rescued, on the way to the vet.... :heart3:

I can't imagine what would happen to anyone who messed with our cats. Gary can relate to how you feel, though he comes up with much more inventive daydreams of ways to harm heartless people.....

Bear and Psy were both 17 and had moved with me from Florida to here.  Patches and Bright Eyes were 3 1/2 and were the sisters of Julie and the grand-daughters of Silly.

Update.  The eye is not weeping and the fur around it is looking better.  I can look out the glass door and see her sprawled out on the back porch right now.
